Chance of Snow on the Dogwoods Continues this Week

Arnold, CA...Unsettled weather continues into this week according to the National Weather Service Sacramento office. The detailed forecast for West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada. Today At lower elevations, rain showers early in the morning, then rain showers and a chance of thunderstorms in the late morning and afternoon. At higher elevations, rain and snow showers. Some thunderstorms may produce small hail in the late morning and afternoon. Highs 29 to 44 higher elevations...43 to 51 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...3 to 6 inches higher elevations. Snow level 5500 feet. Prevailing southwest winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts to around 30 mph...except southwest 15 to 30 mph over ridges.




Tonight Mostly cloudy. At lower elevations, rain showers likely and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers after midnight. At higher elevations, rain and snow showers likely in the evening, then a slight chance of snow showers after midnight. Colder. Lows 18 to 33 higher elevations...30 to 40 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 3 inches higher elevations. Snow level 5500 feet. Prevailing southwest winds up to 10 mph shifting to the northwest after midnight.

Monday Partly cloudy in the morning then becoming mostly cloudy. At higher elevations, a slight chance of snow showers in the morning, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers in the afternoon. At lower elevations, a slight chance of rain showers in the afternoon. Not as cool. Highs 35 to 50 higher elevations... 49 to 59 lower elevations. Snow level 6500 feet in the afternoon. Prevailing southwest winds up to 15 mph.

Monday Night Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain and snow showers in the evening, then rain and snow showers likely after midnight. Lows 22 to 37 higher elevations...35 to 43 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 3 inches higher elevations. Snow level 6000 feet. Prevailing southwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts to around 40 mph...except southwest 20 to 35 mph over ridges.

Tuesday Rain and snow showers in the morning, then rain showers, snow showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs 30 to 45 higher elevations...45 to 53 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...3 to 6 inches higher elevations. Snow level 5500 feet. Prevailing southwest winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts to around 40 mph...except southwest 20 to 35 mph over ridges.

...Late Season Mountain Snow Today...

.A system moving across northern California today will bring
mountain snow to the Sierra Cascade range resulting in travel
impacts. Snow levels will be at pass level or below through early
Monday morning.

If traveling through the Sierra Cascade range today and tonight,
be prepared for winter like conditions. Carry tire chains and
check the latest road and weather reports before departure. More
mountain snowfall will be possible this coming week.

* WHAT...Heavy snow occurring. Plan on difficult travel
conditions. Additional snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches,
with localized amounts up to 15 inches across mountain summits,
are expected.

* WHERE...Western Plumas County/Lassen Park and West Slope
Northern Sierra Nevada.

* WHEN...Until 5 AM Monday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for significant reductions in
visibility at times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means there will be snow covered
roads and limited visibilities. Travel is not recommended while

      The dogwood is such a beautiful tree in bloom. My dearly departed mother Imogene Smith Whipple just loved the dogwood. In fact her ashes are buried under her favorite tree on the property-the dogwood. God bless her little heart!
