First District 4 Supervisoral Candidates Night Held Tuesday Eve in Murphys With Full Video~By John Hamilton
Murphys, CA....The Native Son's Hall in downtown Murphys had about 30 attendees tonight for the First District 4 Supervisor Candidates Night. The night's event was sponsored by the Mountain Chronicle of Arnold and Vida Mona Winery of Murphys. The candidates present this evening were longtime Supervisor, Tom Tryon, Lee Seaton, Sarah Lunsford and Ron Klass. Also present, were the current sitting Supervisors of Calaveras County. It was a full debate style show with two minute opening statements, panel questions, audience questions and closing arguments....
District 4 is fortunate to have four very well qualified entrants in this years elected office derby. Incumbent, Tom Tryon who is vying for not only to return to his elected position, if he is successful in his bid this time he will become one of county supervisors with the longest tenures in the entire state. He has been serving the people of this district since 1984. Tom is proudly running on his record of over two decades of public service.
Lee Seaton, longtime resident of Angels Camp is mounting a very aggressive and well financed campaign for the seat as well. Lee is a 6 year veteran of the Angels Camp City Council and is running on not only his experience but is seeking to take his Angels Camp experience to serve the District at the county level.
Sarah Lunsford, a local veteran of the media scene in Calaveras County, is the third candidate in this race. Sarah listed her 3 1/2 years of covering the Board of Supervisors as a reporter and her time working for legislators as some of her qualifications for office. Sarah is graduate of UC Berkley and is a longtime follower and proponent of good public policy.
Ron Klass a local businessmen and political veteran is taking his second crack at this supervisor seat after mounting a previous campaign in 2000. Ron is very active in the Murphys Community Club and in his community in general. Ron Brings his qualifications in the corporate world, local business experience and community involvement to the table in his bid.
A Candidates Night for all of the Supervisor Candidates in Calaveras County is coming up on April 24th, sponsored by the Calaveras County Sheriffs Department. More info to come on that.....
We have the entire debate for your viewing pleasure. The Mountain Chronicle hosted a very nice event. There were refreshments from Lila & Sage Catering, Tables for the Candidate's Materials and more. The video is below...
