It Was a Pondskimming FUN for the Entire Family in Bear Valley on Saturday.. With Video! By John Hamilton
Bear Valley, CA...Over 80 participants Skimmed, Boated, Splashed, Cartwheeled, Flopped, Super Heroes and more across the skimming pond that BVMR set up their late season party this year. The first entrants across the pond were BVRM GM Jim Gentling and CEO Martin Wegenstein. They both raced across the pond with nary a drop reaching their clothes. A great deal of the other entrants spent a bit more time splashing in the just above freezing water. It was a costumed parade of skiers and boarders that ran the gauntlet to test their skimming skills. "Bill & Hillary", Bikini Clad Women, various cartoon characters...

clowns, swordsmen from the dark ages, the Bear Valley Bear and even visually disappointing bikini clad men with wardrobe malfunctions skimmed their stuff for the assembled throng.
It was a lot of fun as several hundred people, kids through adults lined the course at the entrants made their passes. Some even made multiple passes as the honed their skimming techniques. It seems you want to be back on your skis or boards and keeping your tips up prevented the dreaded high speed face plant. The successful runs made it look easy.
