USTR Delays Some Tariffs on Items Including, Laptops, Cell Phones, Game Consoles & More Until After Holiday Shopping Season

Washington, DC...The United States Trade Representative (USTR) today announced the next steps in the process of imposing an additional tariff of 10 percent on approximately $300 billion of Chinese imports.  On May 17, 2019, USTR published a list of products imported from China that would be potentially subject to an additional 10 percent tariff.  This new tariff will go into effect on September 1 as announced by President Trump on August 1.

Certain products are being removed from the tariff list based on health, safety, national security and other factors and will not face additional tariffs of 10 percent.

Further, as part of USTR’s public comment and hearing process, it was determined that the tariff should be delayed to December 15 for certain articles.  Products in this group include, for example, cell phones, laptop computers, video game consoles, certain toys, computer monitors, and certain items of footwear and clothing.

USTR intends to conduct an exclusion process for products subject to the additional tariff.

The USTR will publish in the Federal Register as soon as possible additional details and lists of the tariff lines affected by this announcement.

IGNORANCE

This just shows our ignorance in chief has no idea how to lead a country or he would never have threatened these tariffs in the first place - oh wait, except for the fact that he loves threatening and frightening people, so it did accomplish that.

Ditto on that one! Dam good reason why our POTUS is doing that. So everyone will probably shop for all this stuff and oh well-if it goes up it goes up! Can't satisfy all folks all the time. If you moan and groan, then express it through the process of voting or write to your congressman. No one is stopping you. It's a democracy we live in!

Of course it is, that’s the natural economic cycle. Likely a year or two out. The trouble with an area like Calaveras is its a dependent, secondary economy to the Bay Area. So, others may feel the recession as well but it takes this region longer to recover.

Gotta love economic policy based on whether the price of Christmas toys goes up. Next our tariff policies will be based on whether the POTUS is constipated. Then we can refer to our nation as the Ex-Lax nation.

Every single gain we've seen in the stock market in the last year has been wiped out.

All you Trumpers willing to overlook the racism, scandal, lies, corruption...

So the whataboutism is ..what about the economy.

And the Feds don't cut rates in a booming economy you dullards.

Stop watching Fox. Put down the Mountain Dew. Let the grownups have a conversation.

So the American farmer is screwed.
    And the American consumer.
You can't eat electronics. Every grocery price has risen. Trump supporters can point to the whiners as being unpatriotic.
Opposing Trump and his ideas makes too much sense.

Did. You even watch? This was a meme making the Facebook rounds and even that company flagged it as untrue. Granted, there was not a pole with a cloth flag on the stage but the entire backdrop was a digital image of Old Glory along with lots of red, white and blue. Many of the candidates also wore flag lapel pins. Please stop repeating untruths and learn things for yourself.

Trump talking out of both sides of his ass.

Wait! I thought the Chinese were paying all these tariffs, not the US consumers. Now Trump is telling us he'll save us a lot of sheckles at Christmas by not imposing the tariffs. Well, one position is true the other is just another sloppy lie dished out for his supporters, who obviously can't think for themselves.

Mostly I think he tried this sleigh of hand retreat because even the dimmest brain among his supporters would notice Christmas costing 10-20% more this year.

BTW, I seem to remember Trump claiming in 2016 that he was going to bring all these manufacturing jobs back to our country. However there's still hundreds of billions if not trillions of dollars in manufactured goods we are still importing from China and elsewhere. Just another lie made and kept by this orange haired hemmeroid loafing in the tenderest parts of our society.

Dump is setting the economy up for a recession.
He has thrown gasoline on the Midwest economy racked by climate change which many deny still . They are in a ever worsening recession with the loss of the ag markets in China, and steel, aluminum tariffs . The trucking industry there is showing a 2/3 loss of it's recent past haulage.

Dump is a disaster in many aspects of his responsibilities besides presiding over the most corrupt administration in American history.
A dark time in America's history due to an illegitimate president in office by election schemes such as voter purges and use of broken /hacked voting machines in Mi, Wi, Pa in minority precincts.

The end of this nightmare cannot come soon enough. The environment , attempts to end healthcare for millions, foreign policy, and fomenting division in America .
A country divided is not the America the founding fathers envisioned. It is the dream of it's enemies such as Putin. Dump is doing his work. He is a traitor.

And we all need to teach the kids that Christmas is not all about getting toys-or a new Beamer, or a new fancy mansion, or the latest style of clothing so one can be in the "in crowd!" Seems like a lot of folks have been totally ignorant about the true meaning of Christmas. Who really gives a s**t about who has what? Mammon is going to kill us all eventually-we're really getting close to that day!
