Susan Skalski named as Stanislaus National Forest Supervisor
Sonora, CA.... Susan Skalski, currently Deputy Forest Supervisor on the Idaho Panhandle National Forests in Northern Idaho, will be the new Forest Supervisor of the Stanislaus National Forest in Sonora, US Forest Service officials announced today. "I am very excited Susan will be joining us in Region 5, said Pacific Southwest Regional Forester Randy Moore, "Her strong background in natural resources makes her a great fit as the Forest Supervisor on the Stanislaus National Forest."....
In her 27-year career, Skalski has worked in recreation, Wild and Scenic River planning, timber sale planning, wilderness resources and, public lands administration. Previously she has served as a legislative affairs specialist in the Pacific Northwest Regional Office, district ranger on the Kaibab National Forest in Northern Arizona and, the Ochoco National Forest in Central Oregon. She has also served on the Washington Office staff of Recreation, Heritage and Wilderness Resources.
“I’m very excited about moving to a part of California rich in history and natural beauty. I’ve heard the people in the Mother Lode are friendly, engaging and take a personal interest in the forest that surrounds them, said Skalski, “I look forward to meeting and working with the employees of the Stanislaus and forging partnerships with members of the local communities and visitors to the National Forest alike.”
Skalski received a forestry degree in Natural Resource Management from Colorado State University. Some of her hobbies include hiking, skiing, fly fishing, traveling and gardening. Skalski expects to arrive on the Stanislaus National Forest by mid June. Currently, she lives in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho with her husband, Jim and their golden retriever, Willie.
