Calaveras Marijuana Enforcement Unit Conducted Raids in Rail Road Flat & Copperopolis

Rail Road Flat, CA...On 8/27/2019, the Calaveras Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Unit served a search warrant for illegal marijuana cultivation on a location in the 1000 block of Simpson Rd in Railroad Flat. During the investigation, deputies located and eradicated 741 growing marijuana plants and a small amount of processed marijuana. Calaveras County Code Compliance responded to the scene and red tagged the property for county code violations including some related to unpermitted structures. No subjects were found on scene, however the investigation is ongoing.

On the same day, 8/27/2019, another search warrant was served in the 1100 block of Royal Lane in Railroad Flat. Deputies located and eradicated 115 growing marijuana plants. No subjects were found on the property, however the investigation is ongoing.

On 8/28/2019, the Calaveras Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Unit served a search warrant for illegal marijuana cultivation on a location in the 4300 block of Buckboard Lane in Copperopolis. 759 growing marijuana plants were eradicated from the property. This marijuana grow consisted of the plants dispersed throughout various locations and concealed within brush and trees on the property. No persons were located on the property, however the investigation is continuing.

These marijuana growing operations were indicative of illegal commercial activity and were not in compliance with any medical or recreational cultivation.

It should be noted that the Marijuana Enforcement Team serves numerous search warrants monthly. During these search warrants, evidence is collected which is used to further the case and overall investigation. The mere fact that no persons were contacted or arrested at some of the locations does not imply that the case is complete. For weeks and/or months following a warrant, the investigation into each site continues. In some cases, charges are referred to the District Attorney at a later date pending the results of evidence testing, interviews, or follow up investigations.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information on illegal marijuana cultivation sites or sites manufacturing concentrated cannabis to call the Sheriff’s Marijuana Tip Line at (209) 754-6870.
