Sheriff DiBasilio Delivers Say No to Drugs Poster Contest Winners

Murphys, CA...On October 25, 2019 Sheriff Rick DiBasilio presented students from Michelson Elementary School with backpack and school supplies as prizes. These students participated in the Sheriff’s Office annual ‘Say No to Drugs’ Poster Contest which concluded last week during the National Red Ribbon Week.  The poster contest theme this year followed the 2019 Red Ribbon Week theme of “Send a Message. Stay Drug Free”. This poster contest was created locally in 2015 to incorporate alcohol and drug discussion with creative expression, and to increase self-esteem for participants.

The contest is presented annually by the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office, Angels Camp Police Department, and the Calaveras County Office of Education. Thank you to all of the students and schools who participated.

Right on! It's also great for kids to get educated on the ill effects of all drugs-starting from marijuana on up to all the "higher level" drugs-as per federal drug schedule. Yes, folks-it's (marijuana) still on there. I also know it's legal for folks 21 and over in California to use it. Children can always get information on drug abuse from their schools and all substance abuse (both in-house and outpatient) programs also have information about that. It's still mandated that information and education is provided on drug abuse and the effects. As far as I'm concerned (and will always prevail with this), marijuana is still a gateway drug to more stronger illicit drugs.

I understand what you mean but is there a reason you left out alcohol?
Alcohol is a drug you know and it's a known fact that most drug abusers started with alcohol.
Kind of sounds like the just say no campaign, that sure worked
Well time to go do some trimming 😗
