The Economic Impact of Tourism on California’s Rural Counties

Sacramento, CA...After nine consecutive years of growth, California’s travel and tourism economy continues to surge.   Visitors pumped more than $140 billion in travel spending in the last year, stimulating business development and providing Californians with more than one million jobs. Increased travel spending is leading to record-setting hotel construction and more than $4 billion in annual investments in theme park, restaurant and other tourism-related infrastructure. These projects are creating secondary employment effects, generating high-quality jobs in building and construction.

Not only does tourism support the state, the industry is a boon for city and county budgets. Last year, visitor spending generated $11.8 billion in tax revenue for state and local jurisdictions and was among the top three sources of funding for many counties. This revenue helps fund vital programs and infrastructure projects and saves California households an additional $890 in taxes each year to maintain state and local services. That’s enough money to resurface 17,000 miles of two-lane roads or employ 107,000 police officers.

It takes more than having the perfect destination to attract visitor dollars. For more than 25 years, Visit California’s marketing programs have delivered billions of dollars of new visitor spending and helped establish California as the number one travel destination in the U.S. Over the next five years, Visit California will be building on this success by investing $500 million in global marketing campaigns to ensure that the state remains a top consideration when travelers around the world are planning a trip.

Learn more about the economic impact of tourism upon your county and the benefits of travel and tourism to California’s economy.

Won’t it be a fun surprise.....

.....when all those rich and generous vacationers and cabin people are confronted with the reality of commercial marijuana cultivation in Calaveras County? When their Air BnB’s and treasured cabin getaways are surrounded by tweakers, circuit trimmers, and the skaggy, skunky funk of ripening weed? Wonder how long they’ll keep coming up, or how long it’ll be until they get tired of their plummeting property values. Way to go, Merita Callaway. At least you and the so-called “medical marijuana dispensary” that poured money at your campaign will make out...

Aunt Merita's Cannabus Service
Posted on: 2019-11-21 08:32:25   By: Anonymous

The best business plans provide a product or service where the product or service is not available and there is a demand for it.

Thus I wish to announce the formation of Aunt Merita's Cannabus Service for Calaveras County.

The Cannabus Service will be similar to wine tasting tours only it will visit Cannabis Farms located throughout the once scenic Calaveras County. Participants will board a custom designed magic bus which will tour only permitted and licensed cannabis grows of the "highest" quality.  The Cannabus will have specially designed suspensions and soft tires to enhance the participant's floating sensations. The admission price to board the Cannabus will include unlimited locally made munchies and the highest quality local bottled water to ease cannabis tasting side effects. Bongs and hookahs will be provided as part of the service. For those who wish to imbibe in Calaveras County's other green industry, wine will be offered by the glass or full bottle for an additional fee.

Special Holiday Tours will include stops at most major dispensaries and tasting farms located in Calaveras County and deliver the participants to their motels and rental cabins after the tour is completed.

Under no circumstances will the Cannabus Service tour cannabis farms in West Point, Wilseyville or Railroad Flat due to the high incidence of shootings and other criminal mayhem. In the interest of further protecting the safety of Cannabus patrons, the drivers will be required to wear military grade gas masks at all times to minimize the psychedelic effects of second hand smoke.

Oh have you heard? Try to contain your glee, the first mind bending Green (Gold) Country Cannabis Fair will be held on 420 of this coming year in Bummerville, CA. Local residents and county visitors can enjoy electronic rave music, nudity and partake in an endless amount of products containing Cannabis. Several local celebrity county officials will be in attendance to promote the event. Advance tickets are available for purchase by calling county supervisors Merita Callaway, Jack Garamendi or Ben Stopper. 1-800-POT-BUST

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Ain't that the truth! Kudos to the two "steadfast" BOS members who squashed that 4/5 th vote huh! That'll slow things down and who knows there may be more roadblocks in the future against the three stooges! So let's see what happens next election time!
