Jeffery & Sheila Heffington From Chowchilla Passed Away in Head on Collision on Hwy 4
Angels Camp, CA...On 02/15/2020, at approximately 1030 hours, Mr. Zhang was driving his Lexus eastbound on SR-4, east of Pool Station Road, traveling at an unknown speed. Mr. Heffington was driving his Toyota westbound on SR-4, east of Pool Station Road at an unknown speed. As the two vehicles approached the same curve in the roadway, Mr. Zhang allowed his Lexus to travel over the double yellow lines and into the opposing traffic lane, directly into the path of the Toyota. The front of the Lexus collided with the front of the Toyota in the westbound traffic lane. The Lexus continued onto the north shoulder and collided with a traffic sign and overturned.
Mr. Heffington and his passenger were transported from the scene and both succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Mr. Zhang and his passengers all sustained major injuries as a result of this collision.
The cause of the collision is currently under investigation.
Drugs and/or alcohol are not considered a factor in this collision.
The roadway was closed for approximately 1 hour to facilitate patient care and on-scene investigation.
