Marijuana Grow Eradication on Crystal Lane
Wallace, CA...On February 18, 2020, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Unit served a search warrant for illegal marijuana cultivation on an address located in the 10000 block of Crystal Dr., Wallace, CA.Upon serving the search warrant, investigators discovered that an additional enclosure containing three rooms had been attached to the main residence and each of the rooms was being used for marijuana cultivation. Additionally, the detached garage had been converted into four separate areas, each of which was used for marijuana cultivation. Marijuana was found in varying stages of maturity in each of the growing areas indicating that continuous production was occurring.
Investigators noted that some of the marijuana plants were infeste d with mites and had been heavily treated with an aerosol insecticide. The insecticide (Chlorfenapyr) was located at the site and is specifically prohibited for use on food products and in commercial cannabis cultivation by the State of California
The marijuana growing operation was not for personal use and was indicative of an illegal commercial growing operation. Investigators eradicated a total of 1,057 marijuana plants and 35 pounds of processed marijuana. No arrests were made; however, the investigation is ongoing.
Calaveras Code Enforcement was called to the scene, and red-tagged the structures due to dangerous unpermitted electrical modifications and unsafe structural modifications. Investigators collected multiple items of evidence at the scene that will be evaluated and processed. This investigation is ongoing at this time. No further information is available at this time.
