Amador County Health Officer Issues Stay at Home Order

Sutter Creek, CA – With increasing cases statewide of novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) Amador County Health Officer Dr. Rita Kerr is issuing a Stay at Home Order for all residents of Amador County. This order serves to enhance measures already being taken to slow the spread and preserve critical health care capacity. The intent of this Order is to supplement and clarify the statewide order to stay at home issued by the Governor on March 19, 2020, and to ensure the maximum number of people self-isolate in their places of residence to the maximum extent feasible.
The order announced by Dr. Kerr will begin immediately and last for at least two weeks, until 11:59 PM on April 3, 2020.

“Temporarily making these drastic changes to our lives and routines may be frustrating, but it is critical to slowing the spread of the virus,” says Dr. Rita Kerr, Amador County Health Officer, “We must weigh the loss of some freedoms we enjoy with the ability to separate healthy people who may not show symptoms from those at risk who may be inadvertently exposed.”

This order is similar to ones issued earlier this week by other counties limiting activity, travel and business function to the most essential needs. Essential businesses and operations should remain open. This order does not affect essential government services – services to protect the health, safety and welfare of communities. It also makes provision for our agricultural community and fieldworkers who keep food in our markets and on our table, and provide other products for personal consumption.

The term “stay at home” is a more rigorous form of social distancing. The goal is to limit groups congregating together to stop the further spread of the virus; it is not a complete social shutdown. It means to stay in your home and not leave unless necessary for one of the designated exceptions. For most people, this means you and those you live with should remain at home. You can leave your home for specified reasons to make sure you have the necessities of life such as getting food and medical supplies. You are also allowed to go outside to take care of pets, go on a walk, and just be outdoors, so long as you do not congregate in a group and maintain at least six feet of distance between you and other people.

Amador County residents should continue to practice the other precautionary measures such as handwashing and using hand sanitizer and if you are sick you should self-isolate, including, to the extent you can, from others you live with.

If you have specific questions about what activities are covered under the Order, please see the Stay at Home Frequently Asked Questions on the Amador County Public Health webpage: .

Dear America:

Suspend your rights, your freedoms, and economic viability to combat some horsespit virus that is no worse than any other virus we've experienced in the last 20 years.

Tell Italy that, doofus. They lost over 600 people just yesterday, and the same the day before that, and the day before that, and so on.

We are maybe a few weeks behind them. Its about to get bad.

Italy is a craphole, 2nd world nation. Their joke of a healthcare system is the reason for the bad numbers there.

The mortality rate on covid19 in the US is currently 1.5% and dropping towards 1%. We are overreacting.

A rate (such as a mortality rate) is a mathematical equation:

        # of deaths divided by # infected

Since testing is falling incredibly short, we don't know the denominator (bottom #). However, even a 1% rate overwhelms our hospitals. And then the mortality rate will g ok up, because people can't get life-saving treatment.

What difference does it make if you get tested or not. If you have the symptoms then stay home and deal with it unless it gets so bad that you need medical care. There is no cure or vaccination for this virus and if there was a vaccination most people won't vaccinate just like for the flu virus.

It’s so annoying that it takes something like this to tell people who are sick to stay home! I work at a local school and it’s unbelievable how many parents send their kids to school sick and even worse yet how many employees come in sick. STAY home when you are sick. Period.

It's so annoying when "teachers" try to tell people what is best for them. Some of us don't have the luxury of staying home whenever an opportunity arises. Some of us have what you call "essential jobs" often times taking care of lazy brainwashed @sses like you. So how about just shutting your pie-hole and enjoying your extended summer vacation. While at home perhaps you can search around for at least a 1/2 ounce of common sense.

It's A-Holes like you that I wish would contract the Coronavirus and then you would have no choice but to stay home or in the ICU on a ventilator.

I'm with the teacher on this. If you can't take care of your children when they're sick, then maybe you shouldn't have children. You certainly sound like you can't afford them and didn't even consider if you could handle the responsibility of raising a child. I'd say by your response you must be one pathetic parent, I feel sorry for any child you may have if you can't even take care of them when their sick. You sound like a good candidate for having Child Protection Service making a visit

Which idiot Mr sky not falling? The guy who sends his sick kid to school? The guy who says it's all BS? Hopefully not the person who teaches our young?
In the begining I was calling it BS and still don't think it's as bad as it sounds, but it is to our elders and those with medical problems.
The swine flu infected 60,000,000 killed over 17,000 here, and killed babies to elders
