How People Can Protect Themselves
Every person has a role to play. Protecting yourself and your family comes down to common sense:
  • Staying home except for essential needs/activities.
  • Practicing social distancing.
  • Washing hands with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds.
  • Avoiding touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Covering a cough or sneeze with your sleeve, or disposable tissue. Wash your hands afterward.
  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
  • Staying away from work, school or other people if you become sick with respiratory symptoms like fever and cough.
  • Following guidance from public health officials.
What to Do if You Think You're Sick
Call ahead: If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough or shortness of breath) and may have had contact with a person with COVID-19, or recently traveled to countries with apparent community spread, call your health care provider before seeking medical care so that appropriate precautions can be taken.

More information about what Californians can do to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is available on the California Coronavirus Response website.

California continues to issue guidance on preparing and protecting California from COVID-19. Consolidated guidance is available on the California Department of Public Health Guidance Documents web page.

It seems like the numbers aren't "climbing" very much-exponentially that is.

If you think about it all sheltering is going to do is make it last longer. There's going to be some people that are still sick or contagious when they say we can go outside again, they're going to pass it along and it's going to flare up again. Might as well get it over with quickly and get back to our normal lives. The numbers are wrong, it's impossible to know how many people have or had it. I don't go to the doctor for a cold, either do most people, so there's probably millions of people that have had it. It's pretty irresponsible to go by the "official numbers" they are posting. Why don't we lock down the country because of car wrecks, the flu, diabetes, drug overdoses, heart attacks, or cancer, because each one kills more than this virus. This is a distraction from something. It's disappointing how the whole world surrenders to fear. Give up all they're freedoms because some stranger on t.v. tells them to. A stranger who's employer( one of the few media outlets that own and control all the news you get) has huge incentive to lie to you. I don't know, I don't believe anything from someone who has so much to gain by lying. It's been my experience that quite a few people aren't very honest, alot of people will try to scam you out of 20 bucks, think of what they would do for power, control and billions of dollars. It only took a couple days to scare the world into submission. And no one is questioning all this? Alot doesn't make sense. Especially people being so tractable.

"I don"t know." Oh yeah it's all good, nothing to worry yourself with. Just the boogie man out to steal your 20 dollars.

That is until it comes back like Herpes or Chickenpox.

You are a danger to yourself and others.

It will come back because we're causing it to linger let it run its course, get it over with, move on. Even with the cooked statistics it's fatality rate is low, and much lower when the real numbers are considered. The real danger is how easily the masses are subdued by fear. Your willing to give up all freedoms and rationality at the drop of a hat because a government that doesn't give a s#$@ if you live or die, fear mongers you into believing that you must do what they say, scare you into thinking that you need them to survive, so you let them take over every aspect of your life. When your driving through check points, disarmed and under U.N. control you probably will wish you didn't believe everything a bunch of crooked, greed ridden, power hungry, freedom hating terrorists told you. Salesmen must love the vast majority of the population, gullible, believe anything. Don't you notice everything on the news is fear inducing, it's no accident, the only reason to push fear is to gain control, there's no other reason to scare someone, is there? If you were genuinely concerned you would do the opposite, not cause panic, spread education, keep everyone calm. But that's not conducive to a tyrants agenda.

Seems to me that one should listen to the medical, public health, and pandemic experts, and follow their recommendations. If you really want to “get it over with” you could go get a case of it yourself, like volunteer or hang out somewhere without any protective gear, hug someone who sick and take it home to your family and friends. You surely would agree that is a terrible idea, no?

Hopefully the numbers aren't climbing because enough people are staying home to slow the spread. It is still a little early to tell. It takes 3-14 days for a person to show symptoms, and another 10-12 to get sick enough to need a hospital, so the hospitals are just starting to see cases from prior to the stay at home order.

Both Brown and Newsom also had a responsibility to have the supplies for our state. Newsom waited so long he now bought broken ventilators.

Trump has repeatedly expressed his surprise at the scale of the coronavirus as it spread around the world and raced across the US.

“I would view it as something that just surprised the whole world,” he said in a press conference earlier this month.

“Nobody knew there would be a pandemic or epidemic of this proportion.”

In a separate briefing, Trump said: “I just think this is something … that you can never really think is going to happen.”

Worldwide, the virus has sickened more than 600,000 people and killed almost 27,500. The U.S. now has the highest number of confirmed cases ― 104,000. As of Saturday morning, the nationwide death toll stood at 1,700.

“The costs of the pandemic-induced shutdown are colossal — to the economy, society and the nation’s collective emotional and mental health,” the board concluded. “As dangerous as that is, it is more dangerous still to pretend the pandemic can be harnessed by prayer and wishful thinking.”

In February, Trump said the virus could “maybe go away. We’ll see what happens. Nobody really knows.” He predicted it is “going to disappear. One day it’s like a miracle – it will disappear.”

This position has been repeatedly contradicted by public health experts who predicted the sharp increase in Covid-19 infections, blunted only by social distancing measures and the shut down of large gatherings.

Even in China, which instituted the most severe crackdown on the movement of people, it has taken several months for cases to start tapering off.

“You’ve got to be realistic, and you’ve got to understand that you don’t make the timeline, the virus makes the timeline,” Dr Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said recently.

Without basis, Trump has claimed the US has done an excellent job in testing people for the coronavirus. As early as January, the president said the situation was “totally under control”. Just six weeks later the US had emerged as the new global center of the pandemic.

In reality, healthcare providers faced a severe shortage of testing kits as coronavirus hit the US, with the situation exacerbated by faults in the testing system and restrictions on who could actually take a test. A big disparity opened up whereby rich or famous people were able to get tests while others struggled to do so.

Mike Pence, the vice-president, has admitted “we don’t have enough tests today to meet what we anticipate will be the demand”. Dr Fauci told a congressional hearing the US system was “not really geared to what we need right now” regarding the test kits. He added: “That is a failing. Let’s admit it.”

As is the case with many of Trump’s statements, his claim he has always taken the pandemic seriously deviates wildly from his previous comments.

            Perhaps most infamously,

Trump said “I don’t take responsibility at all” when asked about the faltering US response.

The president has repeatedly downplayed the threat posed by Covid-19, criticising concern over the crisis as a “hoax”, fretting that letting infected Americans off a cruise ship would increase the number of confirmed cases and claiming that only a couple of Americans had it as cases began to soar across the country.

Dr Fauci and others at the meeting confirmed that clinical trials – standard for any new vaccine – would have to take place first. A vaccine is more likely to be a year or 18 months away.

The president’s statements came as public health officials declared the United States the leading country in terms of coronavirus cases with more than 81,300 infected. More than 1,000 people have been killed by the virus, many in New York, which has the worst outbreak in the nation.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) responded Friday by saying the numbers were based on facts, not a belief or a feeling.

“I don’t operate on opinion. I operate on facts, data, projections,” Cuomo said at his daily press conference, explaining the numbers are based on projections from public health experts.

"If we stay on this present growth curve that we're on, with respect to coronavirus cases, we believe that by about April 4 or so in the New Orleans area, we will exceed our capacity for ventilators.”

President Trump’s musings about ending social distancing measures early in order to boost the economy have sparked a robust debate in the media about the wisdom of that idea.

But according to a new poll of leading economists from the University of Chicago’s Booth School, there is very little support among experts for the idea that officials must choose between saving lives through continued social distancing and saving the economy by ending the practice.

There is broad agreement among economists that there is no economic gain to be had by opening up businesses if that allows the virus to overwhelm health care system capacity in the way we’ve already seen in Wuhan, Lombardy, Madrid, and now New York.

The only real question is whether we have an adequate handle on exactly where the line is between extreme social distancing and allowing business to continue as normal.

This is just the beginning of C19, I’m certain most of you will remain in denial until you contract it or someone you know contracts it and or dies from complications due to the virus,

Educated Americans are weary and even more so because of the stupidity fault line that rural communities beleaguered by their lack of knowledge, will have an impact on where and how this virus spreads.

    You cannot pray this away.

When’s the last time our entire country has been in lockdown because of a contagion ? 🙄😷

Watch that movie by the way it’s great, really, it’s a fantastic portrait of an infectious disease and what that causes with a frantic society.

Rural communities will be hit the most because of their small hospitals and lack of medical resources.

Gun sales have gone up, along with toilet paper in places that have few cases. Why if this is no big deal would gun sales explode in numbers and toiletries become scarce?

What’s the point in arming yourself if you’re supposedly not worried, what’s the point in harboring toilet paper if you’re not afraid of it running out?

Trump has conspicuously failed even to pantomime what that kind of leadership looks like.

Mostly he talks about other things to blame: China, the Obama administration, various Democratic governors, General Motors, and the supposed (and clearly untrue) fact that “nobody saw this coming.”

models suggest the coronavirus will infect millions of Americans and could kill 100,000–200,000, though he stressed that the projections are "such a moving target."

The global death toll has topped 30,000, with over 680,000 cases worldwide.

Of note: Trump has clashed with some Of the Nation’s governors saying that he wants them to be more "appreciative" of the federal government.........

So you’re not allowed to criticize Trump * if you want support for your state.

Why you ask? Because only petty m*therf*ckers need praise in order to shake hands and strike a deal.

I've probably already had it, so have millions of Americans. It's Common sense the numbers are way off. 80% of the population has mild or no symptoms, no one I know goes to the doctor for a runny nose. 80% is a big number to leave out of they're statistics. The CDC themselves reported that the 2018/2019 influenza killed an estimated 80,000 Americans and up to 654,000 world wide. But they aren't talking about it now because that doesn't help the fear campaign the media is hell bent on pushing. 80,000 deaths in one flu season, so far caronavirus is a far cry from those numbers, especially sense it's probably far more wide spread than believed, a vast portion of the cases have been unreported, untested, and gone by un noticed by 80% of the country. It's easy to see the flaws in the stats, and they shouldn't be taken as anything accurate. As for white trash communities, call it what you will, rather that than a bunch of murderous gang bangers running around putting everyone in danger. Don't come running up here when your city is in chaos. While your all dying without your computers and gas for your Lexus, we'll be just fine eating the food we grow and meat we hunted, I'm happy to be white trash if that means being man enough to survive and keep my family alive when grocery stores are no longer there. Whatever status you think you have won't mean s$#@ then will it, when your starving, cold, scared and hopeless.

CDC estimates that influenza was associated with more than 35.5 million illnesses, more than 16.5 million medical visits, 490,600 hospitalizations, and 34,200 deaths during the 2018–2019 influenza season. This burden was similar to estimated burden during the 2012–2013 influenza season1

34,200 deaths from flu in 2018-19 per the CDC. Where do your numbers come from?

CDC numbers are a joke, they're numbers are dirived from fluserv statistics. They only monitor 70 counties in 10 states. Those are the only real numbers they get and even those are inaccurate, fluserv admits that. The CDC is the least trustworthy organization, they make billions off of fear, so of course they are going to ramp up media fear mongering.guess who owns most vaccine patents, you got it, the CDC. A conflict of interest that raises red flags if you ask me, I'm not going to believe someone that stands to make billions by lying. It's niave to think that our lives are more important than money and power to the government and it's interests, they've proven the dollar Trump's life time and time again.

I got my numbers from statnews interview with director of CDC Dr. Robert Redfield. The director said that 80,000 people died in the U.S. during the 2018/2019 flu season. He said worst flu in 40 years. Call me a dufus all you want, I can't help that the CDC is a bunch of liars, who adjust they're numbers to fit whatever agenda they are working towards at the moment. I'm just saying that the stats were given are massively flawed. It's just my nature to question what I'm told, I just don't believe everything I hear, that's a terrible mistake, always look for holes in narratives, ask why numbers don't add up, and object what you find to be flawed info.

Federal Officials Are Using Your Cellphone Data to Respond to the Outbreak: Report-

Mobile advertising companies—as opposed to the cellphone carriers themselves—have been forwarding information from users “in certain areas of geographic interest” to federal authorities by way of the CDC, people familiar with the matter told the [Wall Street Journal.] It’s apparently all part of a bid to create a nationwide government portal that monitors the outbreak using geolocation data from as many as 500 cities.

          Continued—

Officials argue this information, which has been anonymized and aggregated, can help them tailor their epidemic response to the virus’s spread as well as map out the outbreak’s economic impact using variables like how many miles a person drove or how many shops they visited.

This government surveillance (to use a loaded conspiracy buzzword, that, in this case, seems pretty spot-on) can also cue authorities in on whether people are following CDC social distancing guidelines or official shelter-in-place mandates.

In one case the Wall Street Journal cited, researchers contacted the police after determining via geolocation data that large groups of New Yorkers were still visiting Brooklyn’s Prospect Park despite warning notices.

The Lancaster teen tested positive for covid-19, but the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is reportedly evaluating the case to see if there’s another explanation for his death. The initial cause of death was explained on Tuesday as septic shock from complications with covid-19.

The teen’s father has tested positive for covid-19 as well. The teen’s death has been removed from the official U.S. death toll, according to Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer, who gave a press conference on March 25.

Countries with authoritarian leaders like China, Iran, and Russia have adopted a strategy of denying that some people have actually died from covid-19, even after they test positive for the disease.

In Russia, for example a 79-year-old woman in Moscow recently died of the new coronavirus, but the Russian government said that while she may have tested positive, she actually died of pneumonia. Moscow saw a 37 percent surge of “pneumonia” cases in January over the previous year, according to FOX News.

People are already dying in New York emergency rooms waiting for ICU beds, according to the New York Times. President Donald Trump has denied that there’s a ventilator shortage, a dangerous lie.

Trump told Sean Hannity on Fox News last night that he doesn’t like hearing “complaints” from governors and that states don’t actually need more ventilators, contradicting overwhelming evidence that hospitals across the U.S. will need thousands more ventilators in the coming weeks.

When they said the test was positive, that’s when I started thinking this virus was a death sentence for her. She had every underlying condition it attacks. Damaged lungs. High blood pressure. Her body wasn’t strong enough. She was lying there waiting to die.

The doctors told me to go home, but I didn’t. Most of the time I sat by the elevators in the waiting room. Nobody else was in there. Sometimes one of Birdie’s friends would come sit with me.

The doctors kept saying, “No change.” “No change.” It had been five days now since she’d woken me up pointing at her throat. They sent a chaplain to talk to me. Their voices kind of kept getting softer and softer. Everyone knew what was coming.

I was up most nights and sleeping some in the day. My body wore down. I started coughing, and they told me I didn’t have a choice. They said I needed to go home and quarantine.

The doctor called the next morning. She died at 10:20. So I didn’t have to unplug her, and I didn’t get to see her.

They held a press conference since she was the first to die in Indiana. They said we got to say goodbye over video. I guess it’s a nicer story.

I don’t really blame them. I’d like to find a way to sugarcoat this thing, too, but I can’t. Anything good I could say about this would be a lie.

They told me to isolate and stay home for 14 days from the last time I saw her. I’m kind of losing track of how many it’s been.

I have some depression issues, and it would be real easy for me to go to bed and pull the covers up over my head. I could bury myself in this thing and let my mind keep running loops. I’m staring at her clothes in the closet.

Her curling iron is on the bathroom sink. Her car’s out front that we owe money on. I have no idea what I’m going to do. I don’t know what bills are paid up and what aren’t. She handled most of that.

She looked after me in some ways like she cared for everybody, whether she knew you or not. That was always her nature. Anyway.

Yesterday afternoon, they cut the power off, but I figured out how to get it back on.

I haven’t eaten much, and it’s probably making me weak. I’m bone tired and coughing like crazy. They called me back to the hospital for a chest X-ray, but the doctors said I looked good. No fever. No trouble breathing.

They decided not to even give me a test. They have 12 nurses quarantined over there now and a whole floor of people with the virus, but I got lucky. They told me I’ll be fine.................
