Quarter Fire Update...Firefighters Holding it to 15 Acres, Containment Rises to 10%
Cedar Ridge, CA...The fire is now 10% contained. Today hand crews made good progress constructing fire line on the south side of the fire. Other crews were able to access the head of the fire and line construction will begin on this flank tonight or tomorrow morning. If crews continue to make good progress, fire line construction should be completed tomorrow morning before the heat of the day. Dozers made further progress constructing contingency lines to the south of the fire, near Cedar Ridge Subdivision.
]
rews were also able create better access for engines and equipment today. Tomorrow crews will utilize hose lays from engines above the fire, and pumps on the bottom of the fire bringing water from the river to continue increasing the containment line width and for mop up activities.
The Advisory Evacuation Order issued for homes off Forest Road 3N11 and the north side of Cedar Ridge has been lifted as of 6 p.m. this evening.
The Fire Incident Commander would like to again request that the public stay out of this area and all access roads to the fire to avoid interfering with fire crews and equipment supporting suppression efforts. Unfortunately this has been an issue over the last two days, the public’s support is greatly appreciated. The safety of fire fighters and the public is our number one priority.
Prior to arrival, the Type 1 Fire Incident Management Team was released from the incident today. The incident will continue to be managed by the Stanislaus National Forest Type 3 Team.
Fire behavior and smoke were minimal throughout the day and are expected to remain so.
Weather conditions: Very dry conditions will persist throughout the area and temperatures near 100 degrees are expected to continue for the next several days.
