Suspected Dog Killer Surrenders, Being Held With Bail of $1,185,000

San Andreas, CA...On July 2, 2020 at about 7:00PM, Suspect Roger Wayne Anderson surrendered himself to the Calaveras County Jail. He is being held with a bail of $1,185,000.00.

Previous Release...

Canine Shot and Killed (Jenny Lind, CA)
On July 1, 2020 at about 7:10AM the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call of a disturbance in the 9000 block of Scenic Valley Rd, Jenny Lind. The victim reported he was arguing with a person who was causing excessive dust by driving at an accelerated speed passed his residence. During the argument, a neighbor, Roger Wayne Anderson (60 Years old, Jenny Lind) reportedly exited his trailer and fired 4 shots from a hand gun killing the victim’s dog due to it barking excessively.

Anderson then pointed the handgun at the victim and made threats to kill him. After a short exchange of words, Anderson fled the area in an older blue Ford Expedition prior to the deputy’s arrival. Deputies responded and initiated an investigation. They collected evidence, spoke to witnesses and coordinated with Calaveras County Animal Services. Deputies checked the area for Anderson however, they were unable to locate him. At one point they briefly spoke to Anderson via telephone urging him to turn himself in for booking. Anderson refused to cooperate.

At this time he is wanted for the following charges; 597 PC Animal Cruelty (Felony), 246.3 PC Discharge of Firearm in a Grossly Negligent Manner (Felony), 422 PC Criminal Threats (Felony), 29800 PC Prohibited Person in possession of a firearm (Felony), 30305 PC Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition and 417PC Exhibit Firearm in a Threatening Manner (Misdemeanor).

Please contact 209-754-6500 or 911 if you see or know the location of Roger Wayne Anderson.

Visitors need to behave when visiting here - don't drive the wrong way in the market parking lot, clean up your trash after snow play, or summer play, don't park on the sides of Highway 4 where it is no parking, including other roads i.e., Natural Bridges, don't turn left from Blagen Road onto Highway 4 - be respectful of where you are visiting - disrespect is what is irritating to permanent residents.

Hell most of the people I see violating most of the "rules" you are talking about I know as locals because I am a local. Get off your high horse and recognize that the locals are just as offensive as the visitors (many of whom are owners of second homes here anyway).

      It's not a personal liberty, it's a constitutional right.

His bail would have been less if he had just shot the complaining neighbor instead of the dog

It was a constitutional right to bear arms at home to use against the british enemy, etc. if troops were called upon at all hours of the night to go fight. It pertained to the circumstances at the time it was written which was LONG BEFORE assault weapons were even dreamed of let alone manufactured.

Well our Sheriff Rick, a pretty good guy and democrat, issued my conceal carry.
Sometimes my brother democrats are pretty ignorant about gun laws.
Our gun laws are a joke up here. Felons get arrested carrying and we let them go with minimum bail, and you turd brains blame Trump?
      PRICELESS

That far West end of the county is misfits and crazies. They think they can do whatever they want in East Stockton that falls over to Calaveras.

Just speculation, but think about this. Why did the dog's owner take the dog to Anderson's property in the first place? No good reason to do that, lots of poor reasons. So when they get to Anderson's, the victim (?) and Anderson begin a loud verbal argument. The dog, thinking that it's owner may be threatened starts barking and making threatening behavior, as many dogs naturally would. Anderson fearing assault from the dog shoots it. Net result: the victim made some damn poor choices and got his own dog killed.

Right on Bro! One less barking dog in this county is good by me. Maybe the owner ought to do some jail time and take some animal ownership classes.

Excessive dust on a dirt road? OMG imagine that! News flash! If you live on a dirt road, expect dust! And stay off your neighbor's property and out of their face. There's a reason why some of us live in rural counties, to keep Victims (?) like you out of our lives.

If this dude was black Or Latino, the cops would not have used a cease and desist order, they would have capped him because Calaveras cops are scared of anyone who isn’t Caucasian.

This is the epitome of a double standard.

If you’re volatile enough to bust out your car ( from a verbal altercation) and shoot wildly at someone’s house, you should have a life sentence at minimum.

Just another white republican gettin away it. He’ll post bail, $200k.

the only reason all the fuss is the dog was black and the shooter was white.

If he dog was white and the shooter black, they couldn't print the story because it would be a racist thought crime.

That dog deserved to die I hope the other dog dies too they were both annoying aggressive mutts that should've been put down long ago. I hope it suffered and I hope it didn't die quickly although sadly a bullet to the head might have been a quick death. I hope the other dog with them dies too they were both annoying mutts just like their owners. Also complaining about dust while living on a diet road? What the *bleep* is wrong with you? You are the problem and why the *bleep* did you bring your damn dog with you? Should've brought the other one so it could've been put down too. Go back to the victim academy and stop being so stupid you pieces of barely sentient garbage.
