The reason the Sheriff gave for not enforcing the mask requirement was , specifically, he doesn’t favor making people criminals for that reason. That is no good excuse. The laws allow violations to be treated as administrative fines...like parking violations. These violations do not make people criminals, they only get a fine.

Failure to enforce the mask law is misfeasance and will probably cost this county a lot of state recovery money.

One would think the sheriff would be doing anything he can to help fight this virus. He chooses to turn is back on his community. He needs to go have some drinks at the Murphys Hotel with his friends. They will buy many drinks for him.

Sigh... you must be a moron. Younger people are dying, too. Children. Teenagers. People in their 20s, 30s, 40s. It's not just older people. But, if you were actually paying attention, you'd already know this, and wouldn't make such ignorant comments.

Actually they aren’t. Deaths from the virus are down by 90% from the peak and 39% in the last few weeks. Any death of a younger person was due to significant underlying conditions. You are all being played. . .

Wrong. Younger people WITHOUT underlying conditions have been getting quite sick, and many have died. There is a whole new surge of younger people becoming infected, because they are foolishly ignoring all the safety guidelines. Maybe you should read more. Give it a try!

          BTW, mandate:

          Noun
An official or authoritative command; an order or injunction; a commission; a judicial precept.

          Verb
          to authorize; to make mandatory

I've yet to see anything in the local media, nor have I, or anyone I know, known anyone who has became sick, been in the hospital, or died from the virus. Anyone else here know anyone local physically sick or dead from the virus?

However, if you had viewed the local obituaries at the onset of the virus (end of last year and January) for Calaveras and Amador. There were...what seemed an increase of the local elder generation passing. No obituary said it was the virus though.

My guess is our county got hit by Bay Area virus spreading second home owners early on, and it took out our weakest elder community members. It is said the virus has mutated to a less deadly form, but is now more contagious with the majority not showing any symptoms at all.

To not intake the airborne virus through the nose, mouth or eyes you would need a full hazmat suit such as used for Ebola. These masks that people are being forced to wear do nothing if you come into contact with a virus shedding person. The virus passes right through the masks available to the general public.

When women said "my body, my choice" - you all laughed. You wanted to impose YOUR hypocritical religious beliefs on everyone, even on those who have different religious beliefs than you. BUT NOW, you suddenly co-opt that phrase "my body, my choice" to fit your own ignorant, selfish agenda... because you're too much of a pussy to wear a mask, even if it meant saving the life of another human. Would you wear one if it meant saving the life of your mother, sister, daughter? Still no? So yeah, you're the hypocrites. We all know it. And all you are doing, is proving it, over and over, each time you comment. You can spew all the nonsense you want, but you'll still be wrong. I feel sorry for your family members. Hope you have the decency to stay away from them, if you can't care enough to put on a little mask to help protect their lives. What a guy you must be....

I can show you plenty of documented cases if you killing babies because you are too irresponsible or lazy to practice proper contraception. To the tune of 800-900k per year.

The Sheriff has enough to do with all the real felons put back on the streets. The Sheriffs Log is already full of false home and business alarms going off. They should not be having to deal with that, a private security guard company should.

How about you whiners and private businesses hire your own security guards to police for you. Better idea would be for you to just stay home, because that is your best bet to never come in contact with the virus.
