Eight New Cases of COVID-19 Reported in Calaveras County as Total Rises to 75

San Andreas, CA...On Tuesday, July 14, 2020 Calaveras Public Health reported eight new cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County. The additional cases include a female between 0 to 17 years of age, one male between 18 to 49 years of age, one male and one female between 50 to 64 years of age, and two males and two females over 65 years of age. Of the eight new cases, five cases were reported from District 1, one case was reported from District 2, and two cases were reported from District 4. No new cases were reported in Districts 3 and 5.

“We continue to see an increased number of new cases in our county. Yesterday, the State of California took steps to close certain business sectors statewide as cases continue to rise in efforts to slow the spread,” said Dr. Dean Kelaita, Calaveras County Health Officer. “We must take every opportunity to slow the spread but we need everyone’s help to do so – stay home as much as possible, avoid crowded places, confined spaces, and enjoy summer only with those from your household.”

To date, Calaveras Public Health has reported seventy-five confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of those cases, twenty-four cases have since recovered and fifty-one cases remain active. There have been no reported deaths related to COVID-19 in Calaveras County at this time.

Public Health urges local business to continue following directives to keep patrons safe and healthy, as well as require employees and customers wear face coverings. The best ways to avoid exposure to the virus are to:
 Stay home as much as you can
 Stay at least 6 feet away from people outside of your household
 Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
 Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
 Wear a face covering over your nose and mouth when around others

Calaveras Public Health staff continues to investigate new cases to determine any possible persons who may have had close personal contact with the positive individuals. Close contacts may be contacted by the health department, assessed and monitored for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 illness.

Symptoms can appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:
No-cost testing for COVID-19 is available to anyone who would like to get tested. The OptumServe COVID-19 testing site located at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds is open Tuesday-Saturday from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. Testing is available to those age 12 and older. Walk-ins are not accepted at this time. People are highly encouraged to register online by going to www.lhi.care/covidtesting. People without Internet access should call (888) 634-1123.

I think you don't think. Having lived in this county all my life, with generations of my family before me I completely understand the evil underbelly of the county, unlike you.

There are other more productive ways to deal with it. Constantly poking it with a stick is a good way to be bit.

Trump is the one that dismantled the pandemic response team, Trump is the one that denied the problem, Trump is the one that didn't believe the CDC and Dr. Fauci, Trump is the one responsible for over 130,000 dead that didn't need to die, Trump is the one that pushed for quick reopening making the problem worse. The rest of the world addressed the problem, except Brazil, Trump hit the links, where he cheated. America's problem, Trump is the one...

              Shields, not Masks
Posted on: 2020-07-14 19:03:11   By: Anonymous

At Senders today, I saw many employees in the grocery with shields.
I inquired why they allow shields, no masks.
I was told Alan Sender said shields are ok, just as good.
The Covid experts disagree. They say shields are ok at a constant 6 foot distance, This aint happening at Senders. The checkers are much closer to the customers, many without masks.
I asked a checker why the shield, no mask, informed her about aerosol transmission, not droplet what shields are used for. her response was "I don't care, I use a shield".
Sad, she does not understand virology, and the transmission of Covid.
This is the attitude of many youngers, who now are the ones transmitting Covid.
Alan Sender needs to get better information and require all employees to wear masks. get informed, protect your employees Alan Jeez.
Treats also is not informed. They allow customers to bring bags in the store, and use shields, no masks. There are no plexiglass barriers either. Fred needs to also get informed, it will be sad to lose the great olders we have because of their reliance on old outdated information. There is new informed information . For God's Sake get informed and protect your, and others health . Wear A Mask.

Didn't offer any defense, just up and quit. Now Fukr Carlson goes fishing?????? Wow, and guess what, Trump is Fukr Carlson's #1 fan!! And Fukr is Donalds #1 cheerleader. Follow me now. Trump loves Fukr's stance, Fukr quickly goes fishing after his lead writer is a racist, sexist, anti gay rights, nazi. This guy writes for Fukr, who spews his venom. Trump loves Fukr. You know what? You need to educate yourself. The states are responsible for disaster planning and response. The democrat run STATES were unprepared and therefore, had to beg the federal government for help.

                Don't talk about what you don't know. . .

It is a national epidemic, interstate travel, commerce, transportation. That is a National problem. That makes a federal issue . The president has a duty to deal with it. Instead he dumped it and refused to take any role except lie that it would soon go away. And, to top it off , wannabe smart guy, the preamble to the Declaration of Independence says in part the purpose of the of the nation is to promote the general welfare , which includes positive effort to stop a pandemic. Finally, wannabe smart guy, this is the first time in American history that a president has lied and failed to attack the threat.

You obviously have never been involved in disaster planning or response. All disasters start local and need to be handled by the local, regional and state disaster resources.

Because (mostly) democrat-run states have not prepared properly, they are forced to go to the Feds begging for help. The Federal Government NEVER runs a disaster. . . and certainly the PRESIDENT never runs a disaster.

Again, don't try to pass inaccurate information as facts. . . that's what the media is for. . .

The majority of people mask-shaming on local social media are full of s h i t. Their agenda is to keep the county closed down because they take zero personal responsibility for their own safety.

In true liberal form, they expect everyone else to take care of them.

            From the NY Times:
"However, experts say face shields have limits to the amount of protection they can offer. They seem to be most effective in protecting against cough droplets for people in close range of one another. And droplets can seep in through the back and sides of a face shield, which is why draping a piece of cloth along the bottom is recommended. But their efficacy has not yet been widely studied. For now, face masks are the better option for most people."

Ditto! Yep! When one goes to a casino he/she usually lose money. To me, money is precious right now! WTH, it might not even be worth anything so folks get ready to live in an agricultural society like the old days (I mean real old) when folks had no money and had to barter. It seems like we're getting to that point! So go get some chickens if you can and stock a pond with fish and get a veggie and fruit garden going!

You speak from a position In the suburbs . You need to practice what you preach SRS .

We have gardens , we raise animals , We are prepared .And laugh at you in your Ticky tacky house In the city .
