Arnold, CA...The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the many citizens who provided information regarding this investigation. Due to the information provided by citizens and the evidence collected during the initial investigation, deputies were able to arrest Matthew Dewayne Williams (32 years old, Sonora, CA).
On Thursday August 6th at about 6:00 PM deputies located and arrested Williams in the Big Trees Shopping Center (Arnold, CA) while he was riding in a vehicle. While searching Williams prior to transporting him to jail deputies located a small baggie of suspected methamphetamine, a baggie of suspected heroin and a glass smoking pipe. Suspect Williams was transported and booked into jail with a bail of $50,000.00.
After arresting Williams, deputies contacted the driver of the vehicle suspect Joshua Michael Grimes (35 years old, Arnold, CA). A records check of Grimes revealed a misdemeanor traffic warrant issued by the Tuolumne County Superior Court. Deputies placed Grimes under arrest. While searching Grimes’ vehicle deputies also located a .22 caliber handgun and approximately 50 rounds of ammunition. Upon further inspection of the weapon, deputies noticed the serial numbers were purposely altered rendering them unreadable.
