The Chamber's May Mixer Was Golden~By John Hamilton
Angels Camp, CA...Last night there was a lot of mixing and mingling at the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce May Mixer Hosted by Golden State Cellular in their new location in the Middleton's Shopping Center. Boy they know how to throw quite a party...they even had a chocolate fountain! Middleton's was open next door for mingling as well. In speaking with several people from Golden State Cellular they are very happy with their move to their new location . Their visibility has increased as well as their walk-in traffic. Their store was packed with business people from all over Calaveras County networking and having a great time. Chamber Board President, Jack Boeding led the comment portion of the meeting...

Golden State was also honored for their efforts helping with the Calaveras County Relay For Life and also mentioned their help with the Inaugural Relay for Life Telethon.
Several other businesses & organizations spoke during the open comment portion as well.
The Chamber of Commerce is really pushing for Economic Development in the County. They have been spearheading on getting an economic development element added to the general plan and is also planning and building for a county economic summit July 11-12. Another note on Economic Development...Golden State Cellular will be participating in the process of obtaining rural broadband grants. These could be used to roll out high speed wireless broadband to the under served areas of our area. Numerous studies have shown that the availability of good broadband has a significant impact on the vitality of an area.
