West Point Man Arrested Following Pursuit~By Sgt. Dave Seawell
West Point CA...Monday evening (5-26-08) Sheriffs Deputies observed a minor traffic violation and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 1995 Chevy pick up near the intersection of Main St. and Hwy 26 in West Point. The driver, Steven Herman (38) of West Point failed to pull over and led deputies on 6 mile chase that reached speeds of up to 70 miles per hour. The pursuit ended in the drive way of Herman' s residence on Hwy 26 in West Point....
Deputies arrested Herman without incident. During the subsequent search of the vehicle deputies found over 3 ounces of marijuana as well as a switch blade knife.
Herman was booked at the Calaveras County Jail for evading a peace officer, possession of more than one ounce of marijuana, transporttion of marijuana, possession of a switch blade knife, driving without a license and no proof of insurance. Herman is being held on $75,000 bail.
