Calaveras County Marijuana Team Continues Eradications

San Andreas, CA...On September 9th, 2020, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Unit served a search warrant at an illegal marijuana cultivation site in the 8000 block of Savage Way in Burson. Deputies located an illegal marijuana manufacturing and retail operation inside the residence. The operation included the manufacturing of cannabis edibles and other products in unsanitary conditions and violations of cannabis retail regulations. Deputies seized no less than 1,360 grams of concentrated marijuana products, 27 growing marijuana plants, and nearly a pound of processed marijuana. The combined value of the concentrated marijuana products, processed marijuana, and potential yield from the plants was estimated to exceed $97,000. David Patrick O’Neill, age 50 of Burson, was issued a citation on charges of 11358 H&S Illegal Marijuana Cultivation and 11359 H&S Possession of Marijuana for Sale. The investigation is ongoing.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind readers that marijuana edibles are sold on the legal and illegal market. The edibles often resemble non-marijuana food or candy items and may be attractive to children, leading to accidental ingestion. Often the dosage of the active ingredient (tetrahydrocannabinol) is not precisely measured and presents a risk of overconsumption. Marijuana Edibles, which are sold on the black market may have little to no emphasis placed on food safety and hygiene during production.

On September 10th, 2020, a search warrant was served in the 7000 block of Pine Ridge Lane in Mountain Ranch. Deputies seized 320 growing marijuana plants with an estimated value exceeding $224,000. No suspects were contacted at the site, and the investigation is ongoing.

On September 11th, 2020, a search warrant was served in the 18000 block of Vista Way in Mokelumne Hill. Deputies seized 371 growing marijuana plants and nearly 3 pounds of processed marijuana with an estimated value exceeding $261,000. No suspects were contacted at the site. Evidence was seized for analysis, and the investigation is ongoing.

Also, on September 11th, 2020, an unrelated search warrant was served in the 1600 block of Wells Fargo Station Road in Railroad Flat. Deputies seized 101 growing marijuana plants with an estimated value exceeding $70,000. The cultivation was located outdoors; however, one residence onsite and the basement of another residence showed evidence of being converted for past and future indoor cultivation. Tony Xiong Vang, age 45 of Railroad Flat, was issued a citation on charges of 11358 H&S Illegal Marijuana Cultivation, 11359 H&S Possession of Marijuana for Sale, and 11366 H&S Maintaining a Premises for Controlled Substance Purposes. The investigation is ongoing.
The Calaveras Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with knowledge of illegal marijuana operations to call the Sheriff’s Office Anonymous Marijuana Tip Line at (209) 754-6870.

Isn't pot legal now? What's with the county using all these resources to bust pot farms?

Only out of approved recreational storefronts, not underground and unlicensed. Too bad, because those edibles would have been some fun Halloween edibles.

Are you sick? That's what's wrong with this whole country now! People like George Soros feeding all these young naive kids with marijuana and then tell them its okay to riot, pillage, terrorize, and burn and other things! I'm glad I have my pepper spray now and now I can defend myself! It's coming to that day! Well lets see what happens after election time when Trump wins. All these little chicken**** SOBs will probably disappear and run back home to mommy and daddy. Then they will probably have to go out and get REAL jobs. Either that or starve to death or rot in jails like some of them are already doing!

You plan to defend yourself against hoards of rioting leftists with pepper spray? Have you watched the news? They violently attacked a 17 year old kid who was carrying a rifle and he barely made it out alive. They're murdering cops with impunity. Pepper spray?

I'm sorry... are you suggesting George Soros is buying kids pot? For Real? It's 2020 and THATS a) what you think is happening, and b) what you're worried about while Rome burns?

Thank you CCSO! Keep up the good work. Sure a shame that a majority of our supervisors look the other way.

Just like in CO & OR....

The Black Market growing, production, and distribution just explodes with legalization. It’s a real Catch-22: Legalized weed has a lot of laws, taxes, and ordinances that are expensive and time-consuming for legal growers. Illegal weed is much cheaper and easier to get, and much less expensive to produce. So, Black Market marijuana growers and weed dealers will win out every time.

Our Board of Supervisors and all the “boutique” marijuana (let’s just stop the “cannabis” re-branding crap, shall we?) growers were advised of this problem, over and over again. Industrial marijuana production causes Black Market production and distribution to grow exponentially. It’s just reality.

Way to go, Calaveras County.

You can’t put the genie back in the bottle.
Realistically pot is the main economic producer for calaveras. What else is there .
    Realty, tourism ?

It’s funny because thy are busting these little tiny grows that mean a livelihood for locals while massive pot plantations are running right on schedule unchecked.
No oversight and no track and trace.
BOS knows it and the sheriffs know it, but they are convinced it will provide money to The county,
Although there has been no mention of taxation on these legal Farms.
NO press release from the Calveras cannabis bureau, no newspaper articles.
    NOTHING at all.

No articles at all about “legal pot “ in calaveras, contrast that with this article , cutting down 27 plants.

    Stupidity and wastefulness

    Highlighted In this article .

why are we as taxpayers paying for this?
This cost US money, money for roads , schools ,and fire protection.

We are BROKE as a a county, and we are letting our sheriff waste money on this BS? Looks like economic devastation to me in a poor part of California. Our supervisors are incredibly weak, no leadership and a split board on all major issues.
    And finally

This looks like paid protection for
    Legal pot farms
    Legal farms make horrible neighbors.
Legal pot farms pull 20000 gallons a day from their wells legal pot farmers tell you “F you”
If you complain about light pollution, generators , driving fast on roads, pit bulls running wild, 20 workers a day commuting up here and littering . Shooting 2000 rounds out of their ARs daily because it’s harvest season.

And what’s the tax rate for these farms ???
As far as we know 0.
    No economic benefit
Meanwhile we as taxpayers are paying how much to have 20 guys raid some tiny backyard grow with 27 plants ?
How much money was wasted their ?
