Yosemite National Park Remains Closed Due Significant Smoke Impacts and Hazardous Air Quality

Yosemite, CA...Yosemite National Park announces that the park will close to all visitors and vehicular access due to significant smoke impacts and hazardous air quality throughout the park. All park entrance stations and roads will close beginning at 5:00 pm tonight, Thursday, September 17, 2020.

With air quality projected to be in the unhealthy to hazardous range over the next several days, the park anticipates the closure to be in effect at least throughout the weekend. The park will continue to assess the smoke impacts, air quality index, and fire activity throughout the region. Yosemite National Park will reopen to visitors when conditions improve, and it is safe for visitors and employees to be in Yosemite National Park.

Yosemite National Park's closure is in alignment with the closure of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and the surrounding national forests.

For detailed information on current air quality and smoke impacts, please visit https://fire.airnow.gov/?lat=37.672508866650354&lng=-119.80573

For updated 24-hour road and weather conditions for Yosemite National Park, please call 209-372-0200, press 1 and press 1 again. Updated information is also available on the park’s website at www.nps.gov/yose and on the Yosemite National Park Facebook page.

We don't need another fire. Good call. They should have shut down or limited most national forest a few months ago. People left a mess and put a stress on resources.

How do you support a sociopathic racist rapist. Especially if your poor like me. What dad would let trump babysit their teenage daughters. Be honest with yourself. If your a trump supporter do you also consider yourself a good parent. What do you tell your kids, or do you just resign the problem of fixing this mess of a country to them since you *bleep*ed it up so much.

No sane parent would leave their young children in the care of any stranger or acquaintance. Those that would should not have children and are mentally deficient. You are such an idiot to use that as an example.

Vote no on prop 19. It won’t really help fire fighting and is a trick to eliminate the middle classes ability to help their children and grandchildren

I have nightmares of Yosemite, bus loads of Asians, pushing their way thru the iconic spots, taking up all of the lodging, and giving those of us that can’t afford the luxury of spending a night there, the finger! How about the so called Hippy campground, is it empty, or have all these Trust Funders been allowed to stay since their Sierra Club card holders? Yosemite has become off limits for locals!

You speak the truth. I have witnessed it too. I went camping there to the no reservation, walk in tent campground every year for years and years. It became an ugly experience quite a few years ago. Tourists everywhere from other countries doing stupid and dangerous things along with their rude behavior, bad driving and just dropping trash everywhere.

I would love to go again if it were not for the crowds, traffic and more that make the experience of enjoying the beauty, quiet and awesomeness of nature impossible there now.

What is wrong with you? I have generations of family who have lived here, when is it you think it is the time to go? The rain and snow season? I would like to go in summer and hope they soon severely limit daily visitors so a more natural nature experience can actually be had again.

Paradise lost!! Just as all the other previously, only known by locals areas here put on youtube, now filled up with Citidiots and their camera phones trashing everything.

The men and women of the 'Hillbilly Brigade' - about 1,200 in all - came together to fight Oregon's biggest fire in a century.

National Park Service is taking care of your health since you seem to be incapable of making a smart decision to not go outside in places that have terrible and dangerous air quality.
It’s not forever, this too will pass just like the guy in office will be gone not soon enough.

Are the advertiser's here as racist as the commentators here?
Posted on: 2020-09-20 08:30:23   By: Anonymous

What a nice little place this is. People being sweet and kind on here, yes that's sarcasm.

I wonder if the advertisers who put money in the owner's pocket here really want to be associated with All the racist, vulgarity and derogatory comments? Seems to me they should be ashamed of advertising, actually giving money to THEPINETREE and promoting the hate, the racist here. Makes me wonder if the advertisers are the same type of people as the commentators here? I don't think I'll spend my hard earned money to someone who advertises hate and racism.

You're the same stupid whiner who always posts here complaining about the site's owner and the comments he allows.

How stupid can you be to think the owner would kowtow to your stupid requests???

Like the one above said, back to the bayarreah with you.
