Calaveras Public Health Reports 3 New Cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County

San Andreas, CA...On Friday, September 25, 2020, Calaveras Public Health confirmed three new cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County. The cases include three females between 18 to 49 years of age. Two cases reside in District 4. One case is being reported in District 5. There are no new cases being reported in Districts 1, 2, and 3.

“When we make every effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 we lower our county risk level and protect the most vulnerable members of our community. This also allows us to open up other businesses and activities in the county,” said Dr. Dean Kelaita, Calaveras County Health Officer. “We can get there if together we practice physical distancing, wear a face covering, get tested, wash your hands often, stay home if you are sick, and avoid any gatherings especially where physical distancing and masking is not being followed.”

Calaveras Public Health reports a decline in cases and deaths at Avalon Health Care San Andreas. Public Health remains in regular contact with administration and provides them with education, technical assistance, guidance, supplies of personal protective equipment, and COVID-19 testing support. Calaveras Public Health staff continue to monitor for any new cases among staff and residents at the skilled nursing facility. Calaveras Public Health reminds the public that whenever there is community spread, residents and staff are vulnerable.

“As we head into the cold and flu season it is critical to do what we know works to prevent the spread of COVID-19. It’s likely that flu viruses and COVID-19 will both spread this fall and winter. Getting a flu vaccine this year is more important than ever as we wait for a COVID-19 vaccine. While getting a flu vaccine will not protect against COVID-19, it is shown to reduce the risk of flu illness, hospitalization, and death. It can save healthcare resources to help take care of patients with COVID-19,” stated Dr. Kelaita. Calaveras Public Health invites the public to a no-cost drive thru flu clinic on October 15th from 9AM-4PM at Calaveras High School. The clinic is for those 10 years of age and older. Please speak with your local medical provider or pharmacist for flu vaccine to those under 10 years of age. The event is a collaboration between Calaveras Public Health and Dignity Health Mark Twain Medical Center.

Calaveras County remains among California Counties where the county risk level is substantial. This means that some indoor business operations are allowed to proceed with specific modifications. Calaveras Public Health urges people to help the county lower its risk by taking necessary steps to prevent being exposed to the virus.

To date, Calaveras Public Health reports a total of 317 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of those cases, 295 cases have since recovered while 8 cases remain active. There have been a total of 14 confirmed deaths related to COVID-19 reported in Calaveras County.

Calaveras Public Health staff continues to investigate new cases to determine any possible persons who may have had close personal contact with the positive individuals. Close contacts may be contacted by the health department, assessed and monitored for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 illness.

Everyone is at risk for getting COVID-19 if they are exposed to the virus. Some people are more likely than others to become severely ill. This means that they may need to be hospitalized, require a ventilator to help them breathe, or they may even die. Older adults and people with underlying medical conditions are at increased risk for severe illness and death from COVID-19.

The best ways to avoid exposure to the virus are to:
 Stay home if you are sick
 Stay at least 6 feet away from people outside of your household
 Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
 Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
 Wear a face covering over your nose and mouth when around others

Symptoms can appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:
 Fever or chills
 Cough
 Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
 Fatigue
 Muscle or body aches
 Headache
 New loss of taste or smell
 Sore throat
 Congestion or runny nose
 Nausea or vomiting
 Diarrhea

Look for emergency warning signs for COVID-19. If someone is showing signs, seek emergency care immediately:
 Trouble breathing
 New confusion or weakness
 Bluish lips or face
 Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
 Inability to wake or stay awake

No-cost testing for COVID-19 is available to anyone who would like to get tested. The OptumServe COVID-19 testing site located at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds is open Tuesday-Saturday from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. Testing is available to those age 3 and older. Walk-in are accepted. People can also register online. People without Internet access should call (888) 634-1123. To receive information and resources related to COVID-19 visit the Calaveras County COVID-19 website.

Ditto-yes! I diligently wear my mask and observe the social distancing guidelines. I also carry my sanitizer everywhere. When I get the "green light" from the proper authorities then I won't need to do these things anymore. thank you

"To the ashhole the other day who said harris hasn't done any news interviews, said Biden only gets softball lob questions, Harris had another NEWS interview, and here it is jerk-off.
From CNN, the only true, honest news source America can count on. This is the tough, real life news and interviews that can help American's pick their next president and VP of this nation.

Kamala Harris names Tupac 'best rapper alive' brought to you by CNN

" Tupac's legacy lives on. So much so, that vice presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris named him the best rapper alive.

During an interview with CNN commentator Angela Rye at the NAACP's virtual convention on Friday, Harris was asked: "Best rapper alive?”

KAMALA HARRIS PRAISES BLM, SAYS ONGOING PROTESTS ARE 'ESSENTIAL' FOR CHANGE IN US

Harris quickly caught herself, after naming the rap legend who was gunned down over 20 years ago in Las Vegas, Nevada, and laughed out loud at her mistake. Not alive, I know, I keep doing that," Harris said humorously.

She passed on answering the question saying: “there’s so many, you know?”
“There’s some I would not mention right now because they should stay in their lane,” Harris said, without elaborating"

I LOVE seeing you Democrats melt down. Now not only will DJT be YOUR President for the next 4 years but he will leave his legacy for the next 20 with our conservative/constitutionalist Supreme Court!

Given that the majority of you are retired, this means DJT will leave his legacy FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! You will NEVER forget him and his legacy. . .

And you younger libs will live with his legacy for most of your lives. Just when you think you got over your TDS, there will be a conservative Supreme Court ruling and BAM, it all comes flooding back!

The landscape of our country literally changed overnight for the next 20-30 years.

And you all thought it was only "4 more years." LOL!!!!

If Trump’s only job was to stand on 5th Avenue and shoot someone, every 2 and 1/2 minutes, 40 hours a week, for his entire 4 year term as president, he would have killed 200,640 Americans—still fewer than have died from Covid-19 on his watch.

Tell that to the loved ones of those 200,000 and growing, especially when Trump knew early on how dangerous the virus was but was more focused on his reelection than the American public. The U.S. has I believe the second highest death rate in the world despite other countries having greater populations. Bet they don't tell you that on FOX. Your comment is callous beyond belief and equally tone deaf as Trump's.

T his is a lie. Just look at the excess death chart on the CDC’s website. If anything, Covid deaths are being undercounted.

And many of the other contributing causes are also just *symptoms* of COVID. In fact COVID is listed as the primary underlying cause of death in 92% of the death certificates

I hated Obama for his entire two terms of his presidency. I never gave him a chance. When I was ready to let go of that hate and learn about him it was like when Neo had knowledge zapped years of knowledge to him in a short time felt like a rush. Honestly I’m still processing it.

No one is saying Donald created the virus, but that his utter failure to take the steps required to protect the country from the virus has had horrible consequences.

The “travel ban” didn’t stop a single American traveling from China, and didn’t stop the virus from coming in from both China and Europe.

No other country has has millions of deaths. So this “point” doesn’t even pass a smell test. Trump didn’t ramp up testing, he didn’t stockpile and distribute PPE, and he didn’t warn anyone (official or otherwise) that this virus is airborne and dangerous- despite the fact he knew that in JANUARY.

The virus has barely touched here yet, but with attitudes like yours it will permanently injure and kill members of our community.

Our Great President has just named ANOTHER SUPREME COURT JUSTICE!!!
What an amazing President, isn't this his THIRD NOW?

Don't worry, Biden is still in hiding, he's studying for his debate. Our President of this Great Nation says Biden should do good in the debates, if Nasty Nancy let's him debate.

President Trump nominates Amy Coney Barrett. Now the democrats will throw everything vile and disgusting towards her, because that's what Democrats do. I've never NOT seen disgusting things said when more than one democrat is present.
