Six New Cases of COVID-19 in Amador Last Week

Amador County, CA – Amador County Public Health confirms six new cases of COVID-19 in Amador since last Tuesday’s update. The new cases include 3 males and 3 females, 1 child under the age of 18, 1 aged 18-24, 3 aged 50-64, 1 over 65 years of age, 5 residing in Ione, and 1 residing in Sutter Creek/Amador City.

COVID-19 Holiday and Halloween guidance developed by the Centers for Disease Control may be accessed on the Amador Holiday COVID-19 webpage, along with the California Department of Public Health Guidance for Private Gatherings. Strategies include avoiding gathering in large groups especially where physical distancing is not practiced and face coverings are not being worn. Amador remains in the Orange Tier on California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy tier structure.

This Saturday, October 24, 2020, a free drive-through flu clinic will be held from 10 am to 2 pm at the Church of the Nazarene located at 14050 Ridge Road in Sutter Creek. Both flu shots and FluMist will be available. High dose flu vaccine will not be available at the free clinic, but may be found at many local health care providers and pharmacies. Immunization is the best prevention against the flu. This year flu season will be complicated by COVID-19. It will be key to continue to maintain 6-foot physical distance and to wear a face covering. Avoid mixing with others outside your household.

Individuals may be contagious before symptoms of COVID-19 are present. Persons over age 65 and those with chronic health conditions that put them at higher risk for severe COVID-19 are encouraged to stay home as much as possible. Avoid unnecessary travel. Stay home if you are sick even with mild symptoms.

Total cases in Amador to date = 276 cases.
Total hospitalized in Amador County = 0 cases.
Total confirmed COVID-19 deaths = 15 deaths.
Total active cases = 8 cases.
Total cases released from isolation to date = 253 cases. Cases are released from isolation when they are no longer infectious.

According to CDC's dashboard update today, U.S. had 311,882 excess deaths above the average expected number from Feb 1 - Oct 10.

Since Mar 1, total deaths are up 17%, their statisticians report. Horrific numbers.

Repeat after me: This is not the flu

      Repeat after me:
We are on the tipping point of overpopulation, the planet can no longer provide what the human race demands. Nature will win, this terrible pandemic is a very gentle introduction on what is to come.
