Amador County Returns to COVID-19 Red Tier after 27 New Cases Confirmed

Amador County, CA...Amador County Public Health confirms twenty seven new cases of COVID-19 in Amador since last Tuesday’s update. The new cases include 16 males and 11 females, 11 aged 18-49, 6 aged 50-64, 10 over 65 years of age; 9 residing in Ione, 3 living in Jackson, 1 living in Pine Grove, 6 in Pioneer, 3 in Plymouth/surrounding areas, 3 residing in Sutter Creek/Amador City, and 2 in Volcano. These additional cases are linked to household case clusters, congregate setting employees, out-of-state travel and community transmission. Three cases are currently hospitalized.

This week Amador moves back to the red tier on California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy. Businesses may reference the state’s Activity and Business Tiers to view modifications within the red tier designation. Moving to the red tier changes the following in Amador County: Family entertainment centers may operate outdoors only; wineries may operate outdoors only with modifications; bars are closed; gyms and fitness centers are reduced to 10% capacity; restaurants, movie theaters and places of worship are reduced to 25% capacity, or 100 people, whichever is fewer; and offices should work remotely if possible. According to state guidelines, impacted sectors have 3 days to prepare and implement changes.

COVID-19 testing is available in Amador County and within driving distance in neighboring counties. To access no-cost COVID-19 testing in Jackson, register at www.projectbaseline.com for an appointment. Assistance with scheduling an appointment is available by calling the Amador Testing Helpline at (209) 223-6676.

Individual actions affect our whole community. It is important to consistently practice prevention measures that help limit the spread of COVID-19. Avoid gatherings, especially where people are not keeping distance or wearing face coverings. Avoid mixing with others outside your household. Individuals may be contagious before symptoms of COVID-19 are present. Outdoors is safer than indoors. Persons over age 65 and those with chronic health conditions that put them at higher risk for severe COVID-19 are encouraged to stay home as much as possible. Avoid unnecessary travel. Stay home if you are sick even with mild symptoms. If you have been directed to isolate or quarantine, please follow all instructions.

Total cases in Amador to date = 353 cases. Total hospitalized = 3 cases (2 locally and 1 out-of-county) Total confirmed COVID-19 deaths = 15 deaths. Total active cases = 32 cases. Total cases released from isolation to date = 306 cases. Cases are released from isolation when they are no longer infectious.
