3 Deaths & 174 New Covid Cases in Amador County
Amador County, CA – Amador County Public Health confirms one hundred and seventy-four new cases of COVID-19 and 3 deaths due to COVID-19 since last Tuesday’s update. The individuals who passed were 1 male in his 70s and 2 females, 1 in her 80s and 1 in her 90s. The new cases include 73 males and 101 females, 17 children under the age of 18, 87 aged 18-49, 38 aged 50-64, 32 over 65 years of age; 52 residing in Ione, 47 living in Jackson, 18 living in Pine Grove, 12 in Pioneer, 14 in Plymouth/surrounding areas, 30 residing in Sutter Creek/Amador City, and 1 in Volcano. Twenty cases, including MCSP inmates, are currently hospitalized.
Last week, the first doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Amador County. Sutter Amador Hospital received vials and immediately began vaccinating front-line health care workers. The initial supply is very limited. Amador County is following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and California Department of Public Health (CDPH) vaccine plans to vaccinate priority populations first. As more vaccine becomes available, additional priority groups will be notified and offered the vaccine as Amador moves through the phases and tiers of the allocation guidelines.
The Regional Stay-at-Home Order, which includes Amador County, remains in effect. It was activated 11:59 PM Thursday, December 10, 2020, and will remain in effect for a minimum of 3 weeks from that date. Intensive Care Unit (ICU) capacity will be reassessed on a weekly basis at that time. New cases and hospital admissions continue to climb. As we head into the winter holidays, Amador Public Health urges the community to stay home as much as possible. Everyone is at risk for COVID-19. Older adults and individuals with underlying medical conditions are at increased risk for severe illness and death. Practice consistent prevention measures to help limit the spread of COVID-19: wear face coverings, practice social distancing, and ensure frequent hand hygiene. Avoid gathering with others outside your own household. Persons over age 65 and those with chronic health conditions that put them at higher risk for severe COVID-19 are encouraged to stay home as much as possible.
