Board of Supervisors to Consider Country Wide Zoning Map Update
San Andreas, CA...On Tuesday, March 9, 2021 the Board of Supervisors will consider amending the zoning map to bring zoning into conformance with the General Plan and to rezone all Unclassified and Highway Service zoned parcels. Approximately 6900 parcels will be affected by these changes.
Since adoption of the new General Plan in November, 2019 Planning has been working to update the zoning for consistency. Draft maps were provided on the County’s website in December, 2020 for review. On February 11, 2021 the Planning Commission recommended that the Board approve the proposed zoning changes.
The proposed changes can be viewed on the County’s open web portal through the Planning Department’s website https://planning.calaverasgov.us/ under the “zoning” tab. Directions for finding a parcel and if it is proposed to be changed is also available at that site. If land owners or the public have difficulty in accessing the information they may contact the Planning Department at 209-754-6394 or by email at PlanningWeb@co.calaveras.ca.us. Comments on the proposed zoning may be sent to the Planning Department or directly to the Board of Supervisors at bosclerk@co.calaveras.ca.us.
Please contact Peter Maurer, Planning Director, for further information.

Could a county employee hit a few buttons on the proposed new zoning map and show us all the new parcels being created that would allow for new cannabis cultivation?
That information would be nice too see before the supervisors meeting.

Yes. Please do that. Show us if and where any new pot businesses are going to
be zoned. Did the supes lie: Are the supervisors going to go against what they promised that no new cultivators or new cultivation sites or new pot businesses would be allowed?

Remove Billboards

Signage is one of he planning elements. There are way to many billboards in the county. Billboards are unsightly and ruin the scenic resources along designated scenic highways. Lets preserve the rural character of the county and suggest taking down all of those pot selling billboards.

Yes please they are an eyesore. Also get rid of all the plastic banners everywhere, they were only to be temporary during the depression/recession and never removed. Get rid of them for good.

I agree. While flashing digital honking signs are not great, nothing screams business-light and tacky cheap like billboards and vinyl-style posters.

Can you ninnies distinguish between a County and a Country?
Just because we live in the country doesn't mean that local govt code or zoning regs apply outside of the county.
A little 4th grade proofing is all we expect. Saying you pressed the spellcheck button before publishing doesn't pass muster anymore.

Meanwhile, Angels Camp approves new Habitat for Humanity subdivision. They will regret that when it turns into an instant ghetto. Look at all the Habitat houses in San Andreas. Instantaneously turned into pig styes. Get ready Angels.

I'm sure there are also some nice deserving families who may be placed in those houses too-some decent families. We really can't make assumptions about things until after the fact.

I think that now whoever is in charge are looking at applications with scrutiny. They actually look at all the pros and cons about a family moving in. If they look decent and look like they take care of their kids and especially clean, then I don't see a problem there. I'm sure they're the kind of families who will take care of their place-with a sense of pride-unlike some others who are just slobs, don't care, have junkie cars parked all over the place, blinds and curtains closed all the time, and other things-signs of meth heads, etc. Now that is bad! Times and things are changing now despite what the political climate is right now. We need to have faith with these officials in charge and have faith and hope for these families. I'm sure they are folks of faith too!

Angels is already become a ghetto. Instead of thinking about what the people want the council decides what they want. Let's see what the new council does, oh wait, they are already trying to help out tourism, doesn't apply to those of us who live here council. Nice try.

Anyone check this article out.....
http://www.calaverasenterprise.com/news/article_228916d4-7624-11eb-9fc8-17f75060b07a.html
Talking about rezoning and whatnot, this is crazy. 17 acres for 107 houses/housing units. Well, did any of the city council take into consideration of how much more chaos that will cause on the City of Angels sewer/water. It can not take it. Way to go Angels City council, good way to start of on a bad not. You get one bad point once again from me and others.
