COVID-19 Vaccination Open to Those 16 and Older and Update on Johnson and Johnson Vaccine
San Andreas, CA...More than 26,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered across Calaveras County. Calaveras Public Health is working to ensure that eligible residents and workers have increased access to vaccines. COVID-19 vaccination is now open to those 16 and older who live or work in Calaveras County. Appointments can be made on the My Turn website. Walk-ins will be accepted starting Thursday, April 15 at the COVID-19 vaccination clinic being held at Frogtown from 9am-4pm. Youth 16 and 17 can only receive the Pfizer vaccine and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Having trouble? Don't have an email address or mobile phone? Call the CA COVID-19 Hotline at 1-833-422-4255 (M-F 8AM-8PM, Sa-Su 8AM-5PM) for assistance. Due to technical issues, those who live in the 95223 area (Arnold) should enter 95222 as their zip code when searching for a location near you.
In order to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, you must meet the following criteria:
Must live or work in Calaveras County
Must meet vaccine age requirements:
o Pfizer: 16 and older
o Moderna: 18 and older
Must have a photo ID
Must not currently have COVID-19, or been exposed to COVID-19 within the last 14 days.
Must not have received any other vaccine, such as the flu shot, in the last 14 days.
This week, the Food and Drug Administrations (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a joint recommendation to pause the use of Johnson and Johnson vaccine after six reports of women that developed unusual types of blood clots 6 to 13 days after receiving the vaccine. Out of abundance of caution,
Calaveras Public Health is following the recommendation of the FDA and CDC to pause the use of Johnson and Johnson vaccine until the FDA and CDC can complete their review. The review may take several days. Nearly 7,000,000 people have received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Adverse events are extremely rare. Vaccine safety is a top priority and Calaveras Public Health continues to work with local healthcare providers to ensure they are reporting adverse events. People who received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine in the last three weeks in Calaveras County should speak to their medical provider and report severe headaches, abdominal or leg pain, and shortness of breath.
Calaveras Public Health reports that the pause in the use of Johnson and Johnson vaccine should not have an impact on ongoing vaccination efforts and appointments for the County.
To receive information and resources related to COVID-19 visit the Calaveras County COVID-19 website.
