Living Arrangements of Young Parents: Solo, With Spouse, Partner or Parent

Washington, DC... America Counts: Stories Behind the Numbers. The average age of U.S. women who gave birth for the first time was 26.9 in 2018, but many became parents much earlier: There were 1.8 million biological parents ages 15-22 and roughly half were living with a spouse or unmarried partner, according to the Census Bureau’s 2018 Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP).

SIPP collects full fertility histories from both men and women ages 15 and over and provides a unique window into the households and relationships of young parents.

This makes me sad. Besides adequate training or education, one of the major predictors of poverty is having children too young and/or outside of marriage. A single mom and young child seldom have housing as in the happy visual above either. There are so many in Calaveras who have had babies without benefit of a committed partner or spouse. They even have a term for it, "baby Daddy."

Nothing new. AND not exclusive to Calaveras County.
Amazing how a man can't take responsibility for fathering children.
It's been happening for thousands of years.

Yep. I did some time with a lot of younger guys always talking about "their babies' mamas." Some of them even had a harem and expect Mom to put money on their books so they can get their goodies, etc. along with their 3 hots and a cot and free rent, etc. So my advice is if you can't afford kids or don't care much for kids, think before you put your dipstick in anywhere in the future. Too many deadbeat daddies running around and moms are on welfare and us taxpayers are paying for this. This is the REAL "status of the state" as well as others!

That cost of raising a child that is forced upon the taxpayers needs to follow the parents for the rest of their lives. Any tax return, any inheritance, absolutely any money or possessions should be taken until their debt for their child is paid off. Half on the woman, half on the man. No more letting them work under the table and never have to support their children.

Are you letting it happen?

It's a shame so many young women are not smart enough to see a loser
(the guy who's banging her) for what he is. Did he have a nice job when he first courted you?....wait wait, don't tell me, he was this sic guy with tats, and he likes to party, we do drugs and go out drinking. Then you have to go to work in the am, while he hangs out playing with his friends on his Xbox, that you bought of course because he's in-between jobs at the moment
( about a year or two now?). Then you got knocked up, maybe hoping to snare him?
Either way, ^^^ that person is right, guys need to be held accountable for their kids. Keep going after the sob who runs away from their responsibility.
Just look at that rich, spoiled, fuking AHole son of Joe Biden, Hunter Biden.
The gal got a lawyer, and had to fight like hell to make that POS pay his fair share. A multimillionaire who would not give one red cent to help with his own child.
So ladies, if it's happened to you, you have to fight for what's right. Keep fighting for your kid/s future, and there's a lot of guys who won't mind if the woman they love has children from a past relation. Dump the POS and be happy, you only get one GO in life.

I was wondering if the comments were going to turn political.
Taking a shot at Hunter. Or the Democrats.
Plenty of GOP counties and states where teen pregnancy, the welfare system, and child welfare issues are as bad, or worse, than the Democrat counties and states.
Teen pregnancy and single parents aren't tied to any political party.
