Murphy is Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week

San Andreas, CA...Meet Murphy, a Shepherd mix estimated to be about four months of age. An intelligent boy who’s already good on the leash and will automatically sit when you stop. Murphy is more interested in people than toys and eager to cuddle and give kisses. He is very much in his puppy chewing stage, though, and should be provided with durable treats to teach him what is appropriate. At 19 pounds Murphy is still a fairly little guy but based on his paw size we feel he will grow to be a medium-sized dog. He is also calm in his kennel and keeps it clean, so he should be easy to house train. Should you have another dog at home, a meet ‘n’ greet will be required.

As with all dogs available for adoption at the Calaveras Animal Shelter, Murphy is microchipped and up to date on his routine vaccinations. He will need to be neutered before going home with you.

Come visit Murphy, impound no. AO53148, along with other dogs and cats awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this dog, please email kbandy@co.calaveras.ca.us or svavzincak@co.calaveras.ca.us or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to Murphy’s impound number when making inquiries. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.

Volunteers are very much needed as well. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we would value your help caring for shelter animals or supporting the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and match you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.

Good looking pup. Above-is living out own fantasy. If I had more room -he would be welcome at my home. Hopefully someone takes this pup.
