Calaveras County Sheriff, District Attorney, CHP & Others Attended Town Hall in Murphys

Murphys, CA...On October 20, 2021, the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office was invited to a Town Hall meeting at the Native Sons Hall in Murphys. The well-attended meeting was hosted by the Murphys Community Club and had a guest panel that consisted of Sheriff Rick DiBasilio, District Attorney Barbara Yook, Supervisor Merita Calloway, CHP Commander Mayolo Banuelos, Utica Water and Power Authority General Manager Joel Metzger, CHP Sergeant Keerat Lai, and Sheriff’s Lieutenant Greg Stark.

Some of the many topics covered were an overview of the Utica Water and Power Authority, the juvenile justice system in Calaveras County, the crime rate in the Murphys area (calls for service down approx. 34.5 % since July 2021), traffic safety and road improvements (paving projects). After the main topics were discussed, the meeting was opened up to a general question and answer period.

Sheriff DiBasilio continues to prioritize sharing information and building solid working relationships with all communities in Calaveras County. Any community group interested in hosting a similar meeting should contact Lieutenant Greg Stark (209) 754-6783.

I just can't understand how ignorant this guy is. I hope he's not my neighbor. Probably a republican given the apparent intelligence level.

The poster spelled recall and Newsom correctly, did he not? As for being a republican that's hard to tell because I'm a democrat and I voted for a recall too and it was for many reasons. Not one or two, but many. There's some good things that have been done by Newsom, but I find more bad things under the hypocrisy of this governor then good. So maybe you shouldn't assume of the posters political standing?

Thanks for the post. I am a Republican, yet raised in a Democratic family. While in the 7th grade, JFK said "Ask not what your Country can do for you, but what you can do for your Country. That was the direction I grew up in. Nice to see there are middle of the road Democrats & Republicans. The media, unfortunately , only touts the extremes on both sides. Creeping socialism & Communism on center stage now....time to wake up folks

I agree there are plenty of the middle of the road still living in the US.
I also think socialists and communists are just boogeyman words thrown out by the right to get their followers to froth at the mouth.
Plenty of us in the middle would prefer to see extremists(on both sides), just shut up and look to working in a bipartisan Congress.
Wishful thinking, but always the optimist rather than thinking that gloom and doom is our future.

And I voted against the Recall because of the good things done by Newsom, not the bad things.
Also, voting against the Recall meant our state would not be run by any of the candidates that sat back for all those months of the pandemic and did NOTHING for our state.

A shame Calaveras didn't choose to support legal, registered growers instead of playing constant whack a mole with illegal ones. That's where the SO budget is going and what you will continue to pay for as opposed to more patrols in neighborhoods. Those growers contributing tax revenue and time to their home communities have moved on. So sad that so many of you chose to paint illegal and legal growers with the same broad brush.

You got a good point there. No, I wasn't a grower, but we lost all the tax revenue from the good, legal, growers and now we have just the criminal grower, with the chemicals, pollution, and the damage they do.

I will fight his punk ass! I will bounce my balls off his chin by the time I’m done with him.

Threatening to kill dogs and such? Sounds like bully behavior to me. The only way to solve the problem of a bully is to become the bully of the bully. Nothing but a scared ass MF who needs a good ass kicking!
