73 Year Old Woman Killed in Big Rig vs Pedestrian Collision in Jackson

Jackson, CA...On Wednesday November 3, 2021, at approximately 9:15 am, the Jackson Police Department was dispatched to vehicle vs. pedestrian collision in the area of the Highway 49 and Highway 88 intersection. Upon arrival, a 73-year-old female (name being withheld pending next of kin notification) was found deceased in the roadway.

The driver of the vehicle, Tyler Alexander Harrison, remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Initial investigation shows the female pedestrian was attempting to cross Highway 49 westbound when she stepped into the crosswalk directly in the path of a 2019 Kenworth truck driven by Harrison, who was negotiating a right turn from Highway 88 onto northbound Highway 49.

No drugs or alcohol use are suspected to be a factor for this collision. This investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have witnessed this collision is encouraged to the call the Jackson Police Department at (209) 223-1771.

I tend to agree but this is about the loss of a life and someone's loved one. There's a time and a place for politics.

Too many people have been killed trying to cross all those lanes in Jackson since it is used to access the casino now. They knew it was going to be too much through traffic. So the casino was going to have to bypass 49 with another road into it.

Then all of the sudden they were able to put in the gigantic tv screen, gas station entrance on 88 going East up 88 from 49 in Jackson. Obvious the corruption and greed before peoples safety in a small town.

This needs to be fixed just like they had to do in San Andreas and Sutter Creek for safety. San Andreas went back to 2 lanes and Sutter Creek was bypassed. There should be law suits forcing the fix because lives are not even being considered in Jackson.

So very sad and condolences to loved ones left behind. As someone who regularly travels that route, too many people walking along and attempting to cross that highway.

Pedestrians are also supposed to have the right of way and some folks just go a little too fast and don't pay attention to pedestrians, SRS
