Plan to Visit The Painted Frogs of Calaveras "Class of 2008" and Win Fabulous Prizes!

Calaveras County, CA....The Painted Frogs of Calaveras is a Community Art Project sponsored by the Calaveras Chamber of Commerce. ThePineTree.net has a Fun Contest planned beginning on September 27th and and ending October 20th. Print the "Class of 2008" FROG MAP WE HAVE ENCLOSED and pay a visit to each frog site. Your map will be stamped at the site with a "frog". When you have finished visiting all of the Frog sites, drop off your map at the Calaveras Chamber of Commerce, attention Diane, no later than October 21st, with your name and phone # filled out. We will then hold a drawing for some FABULOUS PRIZES donated so generously by local businesses.... including Two Tickets to the Gala Auction, Kayak rentals from SNAC, A Free Zip Line adventure from Cave and Mine Adventures, CAMPS Dinner Gift Certificate, Golf for Foursome at Greenhorn Creek Golf Resort, Local Wines, Gift Certificates, Gift Baskets and More! The drawings will be held on October 20th. This will give you the opportunity to go and visit these lovely frogs that local artists have so put some much time and energy into and to also visit the business that has so graciously sponsored these frogs. They really are to be appreciated, especially in person:)....

Click on a photo for a full slideshow! This is just an example of how lovely these Frogs are!

Each of the Fabulous Frogs is sponsored by a local business or individual. The sponsor has worked with a local artist to create a Painted Frog which will entertain and delight people that visit Calaveras County as well as those that live here.

Each year the Painted Frogs are taken to Frogtown in late October where they are sold to the highest bidder in a fabulous Gala Frog Auction. All proceeds from the Auction from each frog are donated to a charity selected by the sponsors.

The program began in 2003 with the first 25 frogs in crouching position. These fabulous works of Frog Art decorated the county all throughout Spring and Summer. In October, the 25 frogs were sold to the highest bidder at the Gala Frog Auction generating more than $165,000 to support local charities. In 2005 the Chamber of Commerce did it again with the Leaping position of the Frog and the charity auction generated almost $150,000 again.

This year, in the Class of 2008 there are 16 Fabulous Frogs which will be on display throughout the county.

Check out the Frog Map to see all of the locations.

The Gala Frog Auction is set for Saturday October 25th in the Mark Twain Hall at Frogtown. That night the 16 Frogs will be sold to the highest bidder and you won't want to miss that action!
