Tuolumne Search and Rescue Respond to Spot Activation for Rescue in Clavey River Canyon
Groveland, CA..On Thursday, July 28th just after 11:00 p.m., the Sheriff's Office received a report of an emergency spot beacon activation for a severely dehydrated man in the area of Clavey River Canyon.
Our Search and Rescue (SAR) Team responded to the coordinates of the spot beacon. SAR used a side-by-side and quads to reach the man, but they were forced to continue nearly two miles of the journey on foot due to thick brush and steep terrain. SAR located the man at around 5:30 a.m. and were able to rehydrate him and get him back to safety.
This picture was taken of the team as the group returned. Nothing like a Tuolumne County sunrise after an all-nighter. Thanks to our wonderful volunteers for their dedication.

I will gladly "assist" that young man as he recovers from this traumatic experience. He can bunk at my place until he reaches full recovery.
Sincerely,
