The Dorrington Hotel Announces the Unveiling of the Newly Renovated Hotel Along with A New Executive Chef....Daniel Quint!

Dorrington, CA.....If you haven’t taken a ride “up the hill” in awhile it’s about time that you did. A short 2½ miles past the Calaveras Big Trees State Park, a short 6 miles past Arnold and 16 miles from Murphys is the town of Dorrington. Dorrington was named for Rebekah Dorrington Gardner who was married to John Gardner. Their beloved granddaughter was Reba Blood, which Mt. Reba was named after. The Dorrington Hotel was also their home and was a stop on the Big Trees Carson Valley Road and was also a depot for the stockmen and a summer resort. ....

The Lube Room Saloon & Grill

Marc and Dana Lanthier are delighted to announce the unveiling of the newly renovated Dorrington Hotel. Much time, effort and money has been spent in the beautification of this small, sleepy historical town. The magnificent Dorrington Hotel has been graced with a beautiful new coat of paint. Rich hues of gold and burgundy invite you to come a little closer and revel in its beautiful structure. The back yard patio deck overlooking the tranquil Dorrington Meadow offers you a serene view of a time gone by. Rebekah would be proud!

The restaurant inside The Dorrington Hotel has also undergone a facelift of sorts. The rich beautiful wood of the antique dining tables are to be showcased at the NEW 1852 Steak, Seafood and Chop House. The 1852 will be specializing in house dry-aged beef using special dry-aging techniques to ensure the absorption of the natural juices to ensure the tenderness and flavor of the steaks. Each steak will be hand cut to order and a variety of sauces will also be available to enhance that perfect cut of beef. Filet Mignon, Lamb Chops, Rack of Lamb, and Pork Rib Chops will be featured as well. Bearnaise, Bordelaise, Bleu Cheese and Madagascar Peppercorn are just a sample of the sauces. Colossal shrimp as well as giant sea scallops are just two of the seafood items that will be offered.

Marc and Dana are also pleased and excited to announce that Daniel Quint will be the Executive Chef preparing your meal at The 1852 Steak, Seafood and Chop House. Mr. Quint, or Danny Q. as he is affectionately known here, was
previously with the Murphys Hotel. Prior to that he was the Food and Beverage Manager and Executive Chef for both the Riverboat Hotel and Comstock Hotel in Reno simultaneously. He was also the corporate pastry chef for the five star Sardine Factory in Monterey. Mr. Quint is not a stranger to this area. His grandfather lived in Dorrington and he has spent many summers here over the years. Chef Daniel brings 35 years of expertise in the industry and also specializes in banquets, weddings, winemaker dinners and more. He would love to host your monthly club meetings and proudly invite you to have your next event here at The 1852. The beautiful meadow and backyard or the rich, woodsy feel of the dining room are the perfect settings.

The restaurant is open year-round Tuesday – Saturday from 5pm. Reser-vations are always appreciated in order to provide you, our guest, with the best possible service. Our friendly and happy staff will go out of their way to ensure your visit is a delectable experience!

The Lube Room Saloon & Grill, located adjacent to the Dorrington Hotel is currently enjoying the “Live at The Lube - Music Over the Meadow” series. This is a benefit for the Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital and American Cancer Society. Live music is scheduled for Aug. 16th, Aug. 23rd, Aug. 30th, Sept. 13th and Sept. 20th. The August 16th and 23rd shows are from 5-9pm and the Aug. 30th, Sept. 13th and Sept. 20th shows are from 4-8pm. There is a $2.00 cover charge and 100% of the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society and Mark Twain Hospital. The smiling and friendly bartenders, Bells, Ecio, Daria and ChinaBlue all look forward to giving you the best in customer service. Over-seeing the outdoor grill for the musical events will be The Lube Room’s own Bells, grilling up the award-winning burgers. The Lube Room is open 7 days a week from 11:30 am and the grill closes at 10pm weekends!

On Thursday, August 21, 2008 we will be having an open house with the Calaveras Visitors Bureau in conjunction with their “Discover Calaveras Bed & Breakfast Inns and Historic Hotels.” Refreshments begin at 5:30 pm with a tour at 6 pm. Dinner reservations are encouraged.
