State Route 89 Opens to One-Way Traffic Control Today Aug. 18! Visit and Shop in Markeeville!!

Markleeville, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) continues to make excellent progress to restore full access on State Route 89 north of Markleeville in Alpine County. Caltrans District 10 has completed slurry and native material placement and compaction operations over a 120-foot long, 8-foot diameter culvert. The final structural section will be installed today.

Route 89 will be reopened to one-way traffic, controlled by temporary traffic signal lights at either side of the work site at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2022.

Temporary one-way traffic control will be in effect 24 hours a day. All vehicle types will be allowed to travel over the roadway.

Construction and Maintenance crews will continue to assess the highway for the safety of the traveling public.
Maintenance crews will continue to remove debris and perform creek grading, rock slope protection placement, and additional culvert inspections/repairs with one way traffic control as needed.

The community of Markleeville has been without full access of Route 89 since August 3, 2022, when a storm created mud slides and debris flows in the Tamarack Fire burn scar area.

Caltrans Construction and Maintenance crews are working hard to complete this project as safely and expeditiously as possible.

Markleeville is open for business! Visitors have been able to access the community via Route 89 Monitor Pass and Route 4 Ebbetts Pass.

Follow Caltrans District 10 on social media for updates. For road information, visit Quickmap.dot.ca.gov or download the app on your smart phone or device.

For the safety of our crews and other motorists, please #BeWorkZoneAlert!

Tamarack Fire can be squarely hung around USFS's neck. Of all the fires that didn't need to happen this one was a doozy

WAS a beautiful place! Years ago the USFS screwed up on the other side of this community. They need to go away and get the state in there!

Maybe we need some brilliant characters like you to run things.
      USFS is taking applications.

They pay thugs and criminals just enough. No person with morals would work for the government? Unless can get the insider trading clause. Corruption from Joey down. Embarrassing Democrats country.

          Ask Trump about that.

Selling the 27 boxes of national security secrets he stole probably fluffed up his nest egg pretty good.

Now all our enemies know all our nuclear protocols.
