Fatal Collision Off Hwy 4 Near Black Springs Road

Cottage Springs, CA...On Monday, August 15, 2022, at 2125 hours, A man was traveling eastbound on SR-4 east of Black Springs Rd in his Land Rover at an unknown speed. For an unknown reason, he allowed his vehicle to veer to the left, traveling across the westbound lane and onto the north shoulder of State Route 4. The vehicle then struck a tree and caught fire with the occupant trapped inside. Unfortunately, he sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision.




The identity of the deceased and the Land Rover are still under investigation. That information will be released after next of kin notifications are made.

The use of alcohol and/or drug use is unknown at this time, pending autopsy results.

There are no further details at this time.

What the hell is going on with these motorists? This is most likely a DUI and fortunately he didn't hit and kill another motorist.

        No, Dumas, this person thinks they know it was a DUI.
        Could be. Or it could be the driver fell asleep. Or it could a deer jumped out. Nobody knows.
        The fact that somebody died is what mattered.
        A family has lost a loved one.
        That is what matters.
