Three Major Wildland Fires Continue to Burn in The Los Angeles Area

Los Angeles, CA...The LA fires continue to burn this am. Currently there are Three Large Wildland Fires. The Triangle Complex Fire, The Sayre Fire and the Tea Fire. It is believed that the Tea Fire was human caused. There have many been local resources called to assist with this fires. The Triangle Fire has grown to 28,889 acres and is 40% contained. There have been 104 residences burned or damaged and 64 outbuildings.....

Conditions:

The Freeway Complex is made up of the Freeway Fire and the Landfill Fire. CAL FIRE Incident Command Team #6 has transitioned into a unified command.

Firefighters made good progress in containing this fire as the Santa Ana Winds died down significantly.

Many Evacuations and road closures remain in effect.

INITIAL RESPONSE ADDRESS: 13000 Sayre Street, Sylmar

VEGETATION TYPE: Brush

TERRAIN: Steep/Rugged; Rolling Hills/Mountains; Urban Interface

WEATHER: Overnight Temp 70F, Winds NE 15 mph, gusting to 35 mph, Relative Humidity 11%.

CONDITION ON ARRIVAL: 15 Acres, Wind driven.

CURRENT SIZE: 10,077 Acres (estimate).

CONTAINMENT: 40%.

ESTIMATED COST TO DATE: $3,500,000

CURRENT CONDITIONS: Extreme fire behavior was noted due to Santa Ana winds. Success remains dependant on favorable weather.

CAUSE OF FIRE: Under Active Investigation.

STRUCTURES DAMAGED/DESTROYED: Approximately 615 structures of varying types (residential, commercial, outbuilding) were damaged or destroyed by the fire.

CIVILIAN INJURIES: Yes. 1/Serious.

HEALTH ADVISORIES: The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health earlier issued an advisory regarding air quality, recommending precautions when outdoors in areas where there is visible smoke, soot, or ash, or an odor of smoke.

EVACUATION: A formal evacuation with *no entry permitted* remains in effect ONLY for the Oakridge Mobile Home Park in the 15400 block of Glenoaks Boulevard. (see map).

Nearby residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, review their wildfire evacuation plans, monitor news radio and obey the verbal orders of uniformed public safety personnel.

ROAD CLOSURES/TRAFFIC ADVISORIES: Travel restrictions are only in place in the immediate vicinity of active fire or investigation. Residents in and near fire areas should avoid the temptation to sightsee. Motorists are encouraged to use caution due to fire related traffic and emergency personnel.

TRANSIT: Metro, Metrolink and Amtrak websites have bus and train status information.

UTILITIES: The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power earlier issued news advisories related to this fire.

SCHOOL CLOSURES: There are no LAUSD school closures as a result of the Sayre Fire. Students who attend Mission College and private schools in the area should check with those facilities for information.

Obey all no parking signs on Red Flag Days, limit use of campfires or spark producing equipment and be careful when handling combustible materials. An early warning notification system has helped to evacuate 4500 residents and communicated a voluntary evacuation of an additional 4500 residents.
