Country western music performed by Jack McGee of Pioneer throughout the day

Cash and prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Celebrity Judged Chili

“Growing Healthy Children, Family and Community” This Year's Theme for Annual Children's Fair!

Angels Camp, CA...The 12th annual Children’s Fair hosted by The Resource Connection will be held this year at Bret Harte High School on April 9th, 2011 from 10:00am-2:00pm. This free event draws hundreds of families each year and is one of the largest collaborative children’s events in Calaveras County.
This year’s theme is “Growing Healthy Children, Family and Community”. Exhibitors, entertainers and performers will provide hands-on activities for children focusing on nutrition, exercise and healthy living. Activities include a bounce house, a diaper derby and therapeutic horse grooming with Harmony Ranch. The Fair will also be conducting free car seat checks.

A low cost lunch will be available. Admission, parking and all activities are free. For more information contact Salina Branson-Carll at the Resource Connection (209) 754-1075.

The Resource Connection (formerly known as HRC) is a community-based non-profit organization established in 1980 to meet the needs of children and families and promotes programs in nutrition, intervention/prevention, and children and families in Amador and Calaveras Counties. Our mission is: “Engaging Families, Empowering Communities, and Enriching lives.”
10:00 AM Calaveras Chamber Home & Garden Show
The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce will hold the 2nd Annual Home & Garen Show on April 9th & 10th at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds.
Vendors will have exhibits set up with landscape ideas and materials, outdoor furniture, solar ideas, home building products, furniture, garden products and much more!!


The Chamber will be giving away a 42" Plasma TV to a lucky visitor to the Home & Garden Show.

Entry into the show is free and parking is free.

Show Hours are Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday, 11 am to 5 pm.

It is sure to be spring by then so make plans to stop by and get new ideas for your home and yard.

April 9 & April 16 (4:30-?) -- Railtown 1897 SHP -- Wildflower Trains
Special afternoon Wildflower Train departs at 4:30 p.m. from the Railtown 1897 Depot on these two Saturdays only! Prior to boarding the train, passengers will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with wildflowers of the Sierra Nevada foothills. Once aboard the train, specialists will answer questions and point out wildflower groupings along the way. Guests go away with wildflower seeds to spread themselves. Train capacity is limited, and reservations are suggested. Regular steam-powered excursion trains also depart on-the-hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this day. Any and all who have cancer, survived cancer or anyone who is or has been a caregiver of a loved one with cancer is invited to this event.
