All Day Mother Lode Highland Games & Celtic Gathering
Plymouth, CA...Blaring bagpipes, astounding athletics and tons of tartans converge in Plymouth, the Gateway to the Shenandoah Valley Wine Region of Amador County. Along the “Royal Mile” tartans will be flown honoring our many clans who participate. The Mother Lode Highland Games and Celtic Gathering hearkens back to the rich cultural traditions of Scotland here in the Sierra Foothills.

The event begins Saturday morning, June 9th, with entertainment from a great lineup of bands. From the BlackEyed Dempseys an Irish Pub Band, to Stand Easy and their Celtic Rock music, to Golden Bought and their traditional Celtic tunes, to Michael Mullen a Trio of One. The bands will perform throughout the weekend on the various stages throughout the Amador County Fairgrounds.

There will be Scottish foods as well as other ethnic foods available in the food court. The Marketplace will host Celtic craft vendors along with Celtic goods imported from Scotland as well as other vendors.

Both Saturday and Sunday will be filled with competitions in traditional heavy weight Scottish athletic events; highland dancing competitions; bagpipe band parades, piping & drumming competitions, harp demonstrations and concerts featuring a wide array of Celtic music.

Some of the top Scottish athletes clash Saturday in traditional heavyweight events, such as tossing the caber and tossing the sheaf. In the caber toss, athletes flip a telephone pole-sized log end over end. The sheaf toss challenges athletes to loft a 16-pound sack of hay over a bar more than 20 feet high. Other ancient tests of strength await the contestants, including the hammer throw and various weight throws. Events are repeated Sunday for amateurs and athletes 40+.

If you plan to stay with us in the Amador County Fairgrounds camping area there will be a ceilidh Saturday evening featuring some of the pipe bands and high energy Celtic rock bands.

Throughout the weekend visitors can learn about their own Scottish history and genealogy in the Modern Clan Village. Each of the clans has a wealth of information, books, and knowledge they would love to pass along to help you in your search. Or, you can browse the Marketplace for Gaelic and tartan gift items, handcrafted works of art or jewelry, imported foods and other goods. While browsing the Marketplace one can eat traditional Scottish meat pies purchased in the food court.

For those who are interested in history you can visit the Living History Village. Each guild has researched the history they represent, whether it be Mary Queen of Scots and the St. Andrew's Noble Order of Royal Scots, or the Halberdiers. Throughout the weekend in the Living History Village one can see numerous aspects of Scottish culture through the many demonstrations such as blacksmithing, weaving, spinning, ancient athletic events and much more. At the 2017 Games Mary Queen of Scots and her court performed a wedding at the edge of “Loch Ness”. For the bride and groom it was a fairy-tail wedding come true.

The wee ones can participate in a number of activities in the Children's Glen or they can have tea with the Queen.

To purchase tickets online please visit www.MotherLodeGames.com. Tickets cover all activities within the Amador County Fairgrounds. Parking is available at the Games on a first come, first serve basis.

For more information about the Games, visit www.MotherLodeGames.com or call (209) 304-4926. For lodging and travel information you can find that on our website, we offer links to B&B's, hotels and more.

10:00 AM Grace & Mercy after a Crash is Sermon Topic Today at Foothill Community Church
Angels Camp, CA...The Foothill Community Church Experience. At Foothill, we want to "clear the way" for you to come to church. We want you to be able to experience the great music, encouraging messages, friendly people and enjoyable atmosphere that are part of Foothill.

Now we know that your first time at a church can raise many questions, such as:

How do I get there... What should I wear...What's available for my kids...and What should I expect in church? Here is a quick look at what you can expect.

What should I expect when I visit?

Here at Foothill, we'll make sure the first face you see when you approach the church has a smile on it. Whether you need childcare or are looking for a place for your teens, a greeter will be nearby to help you get where you'd like to go.

When you enter the sanctuary, you'll meet happy people, enjoy upbeat music, and hear a practical message that will help you deal with real life issues. You'll also be given a bulletin with a sermon outline and a weekly devotional, so that what you learn at church can be applied to your life during the week.

At Foothill, we want to help you connect with Jesus in a personal and practical way. We also want you to be able to connect with one another. We believe that the best way to get connected and stay connected, is through a small group experience. Becoming part of a small group is easy... find out how!

What should I wear?

We are more concerned with meeting your real life needs than with what you wear, so dress casual and you'll fit right in.

What about my kids?

We know that as a parent you need to be sure that your children are in a SAFE learning environment. We also know that your children are looking for a FUN place to learn. At Foothill we are working hard to bring your children the best curriculum, and teachers we can find. To see some of the programs and events we have available for your youth, simply select "Youth" or "Children" on the menu.

How do I get there?

Simply click here for a map to our church. If you need more help, please feel free to call the front office at 736-9338

Mission Statement
Foothill Community Church is an inter-denominational, family oriented community of believers in Jesus the Messiah, who share a common vision for loving God, loving one another, and making disciples.

Statement of Faith
God

God is the eternally existent Creator of the heavens and the earth. He is a plurality and unity of One Who has revealed Himself to mankind through the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus the Messiah

Jesus is the pre-existent, fullness of God in human form. Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to the virgin Mary, Jesus was fully God and fully man. Jesus lived in perfect obedience to the Father as His earthly Son and sacrificed His life as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Jesus rose from the dead to prove that He has authority and power over sin and death, and that His promise of eternal life to all who believe in Him is true. Jesus is the Messiah of Israel and the Savior of the Jewish/Gentile Church, His "bride." Jesus will one day return to judge the hearts of humanity past, present, and future, and bring everlasting peace to the earth.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the very heart and power of God. He convicts of sin and reveals our need for a Savior. The Holy Spirit also baptizes all believers when they believe in their hearts and profess with their mouths that Jesus is the Savior of the world. The Holy Spirit prays for us, guides us through God's living word, and comforts and heals us emotionally, spiritually and physically.

Mankind

Although all men and women are created in God's image, we are all born with a tendency to rebel against God's authority, and we stray from His instructions and His love. This is known as "sin" or the missing of the mark. mankind is however redeemable through faith in Jesus, God's offer of peace and forgiveness.

Salvation

Jesus came, died and rose from the dead to save us from self destruction and eternal condemnation. Through faith in Jesus we are forgiven our sin, returned to right relationship with God, and given a new, eternal life.

The Church

The Church is made up of all sincere believers in Jesus throughout time. The church consists of individuals and groupings of Christians who comprise the "Body" of Christ.

Israel and the Church

The church has a special calling to bless Israel and pray for the Peace of Jerusalem. FCC has been abundantly blessed because we sincerely love God's people and support Israel's Biblical right to live in God's land. (Gen. 12:1-3, Psa. 122:6, Rom. 11:1-27)

About Dave

I’m Dave Christian and I live in a small town in the Sierra Nevada mountains of northern California with my wife and three children, ages 5, 3, and 2. We love to spend time together creating new things and exploring the outdoors our backyard has to offer.

My journey as an artist began as a young child with a love of drawing and an incessant pursuit of excellent penmanship. Fast forward to college and unsure what to major in, I eventually got my Art Education Degree and art scattered it’s way through my life over the course of several careers. My wife and I love to travel and between jobs we found ourselves backpacking through Europe and South America for three months, journaling and drawing along the way. Unable to find any suitable art souvenirs in Patagonia, once home I created a poster of the Torres Towers which became the first travel print in what would eventually turn into a full time career. Three and half years later in June of 2015, I quit my day job to give my art the full time attention it deserved.

I enjoy doing a wide variety of art including drawing, painting, print making, calligraphy, mixed media, and sculpture. One of the greatest appeals of my work has been the travel prints I’ve designed and painted over the years. After my initial Patagonia travel print series, I realized there was a need for a new generation of travel prints depicting local scenes of our iconic area in the Sierra and beyond. My goal is to create a travel print with a vintage yet contemporary feel, combining a scene with hand drawn lettering. Although I didn’t realize it as a child, lettering has become one of my main forms of art which goes hand in hand with my paintings.
