PERFORMANCES FEATURE MUSIC FROM GERSHWIN AND GARLAND TO BEETHOVEN, BROADWAY AND BOLLYWOOD

New Music Director and conductor Michael Morgan has scheduled an eclectic and varied program for the 45th annual Bear Valley Music Festival, to be held July 26 through August 11 in Bear Valley in the majestic Sierra Nevada. As new Music Director, Morgan brings his widely acclaimed charisma, energy, humor and the kind of inclusive, inventive and inspiring programming that have won him audiences and honors from the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento to Europe, South America and Asia.

The 2013 line-up of Concerts with Altitude includes the Bear Valley Festival Orchestra, nine-time Grammy Award winning country and western group Asleep at the Wheel, jazz composer/pianist Taylor Eigsti, ensemble-in-residence the Delphi Trio, pianist Richard Glazier, the 2013 Gold Medalist from the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Vadym Kholodenko, violinist /comic Dawn Harms, talented young musical stars of tomorrow in recital, a Bollywood-themed gala and auction and more. Program highlights include a Gershwin to Garland recital by pianist Richard Glazier, Beethoven’s monumental Triple Concerto, the Festival debut of country-western sensation Asleep at the Wheel, a recital of prodigiously talented young performers on their way to big careers, movie nights, a special jazz evening, wine and music pairings, an all-Mozart evening, Family day with crafts and a concert, the Delphi Trio in residence giving community concerts and master classes and more. A schedule of Festival concerts may be found below, and all performances will be in the Festival tent on the grounds adjacent to the Bear Valley Lodge unless otherwise noted. Tickets for the 2013 Bear Valley Music Festival are priced from free to $75 at www.bearvalleymusicfestival.org or by calling 209-753-2574 or 1-800-458-1618. Youth tickets (ages 5-17) are half price except for Asleep at the Wheel, which are priced $15, $25 and $40.
