07:00 PM "As You Like It" at Brice Station Vineyards
Murphys, CA...In their second season, resident theatre company Shakespeare on the Vine will present William Shakespeare’s comedic romance As You Like It at Brice Station Vineyards. This summer, Director, Tara Kayton will transform the hilltop at Brice Station into a sultry French cabaret with multiple stages. Kayton’s As You Like It is visually inspired by the French painter Henri Toulouse-Lautrec; represented in the production’s costumes and scenery. The show will feature new and returning actors, live music, can-can dancing, and Shakespeare’s iconic words: “All the world’s a stage… And all the men and women merely players…”

Last summer’s successful production of The Taming of the Shrew helped the venue garner both the 2015 Calaveras Visitor’s Bureau’s Innovations in Tourism Awards for Most Innovative Attraction and Most Innovative Business. Brice Station Vineyards award winning wine will be available for purchase at 5:00pm along with on-site catering. The production runs July 29 thru August 27th Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:00pm.

The play’s central heroine and protagonist Rosalind is played by the talented and engaging, Candice Goodman. Rosalind is the daughter of the exiled Duchess Senior and niece to her usurping sister Duchess Frederick both wonderfully played by Charlene West. Candice is accompanied and complimented well by her dry witted cousin Celia, Alia Camille Ledford. The charming Brandon Lancaster plays the gentle and handsome male protagonist Orlando juxtaposed by evil sister Olive played with ease and brilliant dark comedy from Elyse Sharp. The observant and melancholy Jaques is played soundly by local favorite, Sheila Doyle with simple philosophies echoed by Ross Aldrich as Corin. The clowning Touchstone, Jason “Clocky” McDowell and his dim-witted love interest Audrey, Emily C. Wilson bring levity and physical comedy to the show while the hilarious chase scenes between the love-struck Silvius, Sean M. Lewis and beautiful cabaret singer Pheobe, Lillian McLeod will leave you laughing all evening. The music director and composer, Jeremiah Heath and fellow musicians, Holly Johnston and Emeld Ross Hampton serenade the entire play with wonderful French folk music tailored for the show with Shakespeare’s lyrics. The god-like character Hymen, will be represented as the absinthe green fairy from the beautiful Brittany Kleinschnitz. Actors often double to play cabaret can-can dancers, servants and people of the court, and

comedic patrons of the cabaret. The artistic collaborators: dramaturg, Ryan M. Davis, assistant director, Janet Cunningham, costumes, Ann Mazzaferro, scenery, Rachel Adsit Lowing & Alex Stoicheff, fight choreographer, Amber Rack, technical direction & lighting design, Ross Aldrich, production manager, Jack D. McDowell, and production assistance from Ryan Anderson, Tyler Waterman, Jeremy Neely, Rocky Chick, Stuart & Dolores Mast, and Lubov Mazur.

The Calaveras Community Foundation, Insight Manufacturing, Arnold Ace Home Center, Inspired Media, Murphys Music Company, Calaveras Lumber and Middleton’s proudly sponsor Shakespeare on the Vine’s second season. Tickets are currently on sale!
