All Day Ebbetts Pass Moose Lodge Car Show and Chili Cook-Off
Arnold, CA...Join us at the 4th Annual Ebbetts Pass Moose Lodge Car show and Chili Cook-off, Saturday, August 18.
Last year we had an estimated 500 show goers, including the 250 people who tasted the best chili in the county. Thanks to community support we had 25 raffle prizes from day spa passes and dinner gift cards to car supplies. We expect the same great crowd this year.

This is an “Anything on Wheels” show and we invite any year cars, motorcycles, classic cars, and Crazy custom cars to enter. In fact we invite anything on wheels to participate and we also have a children’s division. Registration is $20 and we take entries the day of the show. However, to assure receiving a dash plaque, we encourage registration in advance. We will also have pin striping demonstrations from a well know artist, Pete Neal.

The Chili Cook-off is always looking for new competitors. We supply tasting cups and spoons and a beautiful spot under the trees to prepare chili for only a $10 entry fee. Entrant’s do need to supply their own cook tops and tables and we encourage decorating the booth to empress the people’s choice judging.

Most of all this is family event. We have food and drinks at the show and families can picnic, swim and fish at White Pines Lake and Beach and enjoy the play area in White Pines Park.

Registration forms, more information and pictures from last year’s show are available on Facebook.com/ebbettspassmooselodgeevents or contact the Lodge at 209 795-3112.

This is a benefit event. All proceeds from the event help The Woman of the Moose Chapter 1714 support many local charities and non-profits that in turn, help children and the elderly in our community.
All Day Exotic Bird Show
Starting Saturday, May 26th, 2018, repeats every week on Sunday and Saturday and holidays until Sunday, September 02, 2018 — repeats every hour, all day.

Weekends and holidays at Moaning Cavern Adventure Park, 11 AM to 4 PM, every hour. Beautiful exotic birds - they talk, sing, dance and do tricks, too. Learn about their environments, care in captivity, and conservation. Great family fun!
08:30 AM - 12:00 PM Arnold Rim Trail (ART) Volunteer Trail Work Day
Arnold, CA...All trail buildling mornings follow this pattern: Please meet at the US Forest Service Station in Hathaway Pines at 8:30 am. After a brief safety orientation by Jeffery Hilson, our Stanislaus Forest Service Trail Manager, we will car pool to the section of trail we will work that day.

Since it often gets warm as the morning progresses, please bring layers, gloves, hat, sunscreen, bug repellant, and water. Long pants are suggested as we encounter Poison Oak on occasion. If you have a favorite garden tool like loppers, bring those, but we will have tools for everyone.

Folks from eight to eighty-eight are invited; children should have adult supervision. We wrap up by noon, sometimes a little earlier. If you have another obligation that day, feel free to depart sooner as needed.

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Old Timers Museum Walking Tours Are Every Saturday at 10am.
Murphys, CA...Each Saturday morning the Old Timers Museum in Murphys offers a historical walking tour of Murphys. No reservation necessary. Meet at the Museum, 470 Main St, Murphys, across from the Hotel 10 am. Walk is 1-1/12 hours.

A stroll down tree-lined Main Street transports visitors back to the mid-1800s with buildings bearing thick stone walls, iron shutters and pastoral gardens with white picket fences. Once you experience the charm and hospitality of Murphys, the historic “Queen of the Sierra”, you’ll want to come back again and again!

Rich in Gold Rush History, Murphys today is a vibrant, thriving community of over 2,000 residents. Many of the surrounding hillsides are rich with the fine wine grapes grown in our area. Murphys offers wineries, art galleries, live theater, eclectic shops, fine restaurants, charming hotels and B&B’s as well as a multitude of outstanding outdoor recreational opportunities.

Murphys’ colorful past came alive in 1848 when John and Daniel Murphy established a trading post and gold mining operation in the area that is now their namesake. True entrepreneurs with the luck of the Irish, they were a part of the very first immigrant party – the Stephens-Townsend-Murphy families – to successfully bring wagons over the Sierra in 1844, paving the way for westward migration. John and Daniel’s cries of “Gold!” were among the first heard in California. It is reported that the brothers took two million dollars in gold ore from the Murphys Diggins in one year’s time, making them millionaires before the age of 25. The sizzling Gold Rush camp of Murphys also played host to President Grant, Mark Twain and Black Bart. And in some circles, to an even more famous chap – a young, inquisitive lad who literally changed the scientific world, Dr. Albert Michelson.

Our friendly residents invite you to revisit the past while exploring the “new” upscale Murphys. Guided walking tours of the town’s many historic buildings including the home of Albert Michelson, the first American Nobel Prize winner, are conducted every Saturday at 10:00 a.m., starting in front of the Old Timers Museum on Main Street.

07:00 PM William Shakespeare's The Tempest, Directed by Tara Kayton, Presented by Shakespeare on the Vine
Murphys, CA...(Now Playing)..In their fourth season, Shakespeare on the Vine Theatre Company will present William Shakespeare’s comedy The Tempest -- critically thought to be the last play that Shakespeare wrote. The piece will be performed on the outdoor Arden Stage at Brice Station Vineyards. Director, Tara Kayton and her talented company will bring this magical story of family, art, and reunion to life from August 9 to September 1.Twelve years ago, Prospero was the beloved Duke of Milan, but his attention to books caused him to leave the management of his state to his brother, Antonio. Eventually, with the help of Alonso, Queen of Naples, Antonio usurped the dukedom for himself. Prospero and his baby daughter Miranda were put to sea and eventually landed on a fantastical island inhabited only by a native, Caliban, and a powerful spirit, Ariel.

Since then Prospero has ruled the island and its two inhabitants by his knowledge and books. When
Prospero’s enemies are close to the island and he sees an opportunity to work his revenge, Ariel raises a
storm that wrecks them, but really disperses them about the isle unharmed. Ariel leads Ferdinand, the
Queen's son, to Prospero's cell, where he and Miranda instantly fall in love. The Queen of Naples searches
for her son, although fearing him to be drowned, while Antonio plots more corruption. The boat drunkards,
Stephano and Trinculo, encounter Caliban and plan to kill Prospero so that they can rule the island.
Prospero presents the young couple with the blessings of marriage, ensuring his lasting lineage in Milan
and Naples before reuniting everyone on the island to return to Italy.

The cast features: Elyse Sharp as the ethereal Ariel, Jake Edmondson as the wronged Duke Prospero,
Sean M. Lewis as the island native Caliban, and an island spirit musician is played by Holly
Johnston. Tyler Mattson and Vickie Hall adorably play the young lovers, Ferdinand and Miranda. The
drunken clowns are hilariously paired in Lillian McLeod as Stephano and Sara Garcia as Trinculo.
Lahna VonEpps joins the cast as Queen Alonso, John Baker as the evil brother Antonio, Stephen Daly
as loyal Gonzalo, and Laura Johnson as the plotting Adrian.

The creative team is composed of: Director Tara Kayton, Dramaturg Ryan M. Davis, Stage Manager
Kierin Harrison, Production Manager Janet Cunningham, Scenic Carpenter Dan Swanson, Costume
Designer Herin Kaputkin, Lighting Designer Ross Aldrich, Scenic Painters Dolores Mast & Lubov
Mazur, Assistant Stage Manager Nicole Job, and Production Assistants Jenia Willhite, Cortney
Gillespie, Nichole Markle, and Daniel Harrison.

This season marks the company’s fourth summer at Brice Station after successful productions of Hamlet
(’17), As You Like It (’16), and The Taming of the Shrew (’15). These productions helped to earn Brice
Station the Calaveras Visitor’s Bureau’s Innovations in Tourism Awards for Most Innovative
Attraction and Most Innovative Business. Brice Station Vineyards’ award-winning wine will be available
for purchase at 5:00pm, along with coffee from Gold Country Roasters.

The production runs August 9 to September 1 - Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:00pm.
