One-way Traffic Control on State Routes 88 and 89
Alpine County, CA... The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various operations next week on State Routes 88 and 89 in Alpine County.
Route 88
• One-way traffic control from Lake Margaret Trailhead to Schneider Cow Camp Road for highway construction beginning Monday, July 18, through Thursday, July 21, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2022.
Route 89
• Long-term one-way traffic control at Weber Street for drainage work beginning Monday, July 18, through Sunday, September 18, 2022. This is an emergency maintenance project. K-rail on southbound Route 89 will reduce the highway to one lane, and a temporary signal light at both ends will control traffic for approximately two months.
Motorists should expect 10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible.
This work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment, and/or materials and construction related issues.

Meet Denny and the Dreamers, a fledgling doo-wop singing group preparing to enter the Big Whopper Radio contest to realize their dreams of making it to the big time! Trouble comes in the form of Lois, who arrives to put some polish on the boys. Denny falls in love, Wally falls in line, Eugene falls apart, and along comes handsome heartthrob Duke to send the whole situation spinning. The ’60s hits say it all: “Fools Fall in Love,” “Tears on my Pillow,” “Runaround Sue,” “Earth Angel,” “Stay,” “Unchained Melody,” “Lonely Teardrops,” and “The Glory of Love.” Winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Best Musical Award, Sh-Boom! Life Could Be A Dream will leave you laughing, singing, and cheering— let’s hear it for the boys!
The musical stars Kabir Gandhi, Chris Carranza, Derik Lawson, Deja Fields, and Troy D. Wallace. The understudies are Thaddeus Piett and Jerry Lee.
Sh-Boom! Life Could Be A Dream is directed and choreographed by Keenon Hooks, with musical direction by Sarah Wussow. Scenic design by Christopher Scott Murillo, costume design by Austin Blake Conlee, lighting design by Minjoo Kim, sound design by Tatiana Covington-Parra, hair and make-up design by Brenda O’Brien, and the stage manager is Maggie Braun.

Gold Rush Days in Columbia are the 2nd Saturday Every month – 1:00pm – 4:00pm
Columbia, CA...Reserve the second Saturday of every month for Gold Rush Days at Columbia State Historic Park. You’ll get to see inside special exhibits, stores and residences not regularly open to the public. Columbia’s Gold Rush Days is a chance to explore the historic town of Columbia and see it come alive with living history. Throughout town you will discover park docents interpreting what it looked, felt, and sounded like during the California Gold Rush.
Docents in period attire will provide lots of information on the structure of their featured building, nature of its business and equipment, contents of store merchandise, or interior décor of family homes, along with history of the times for visitors. If you’re lucky, the gambling table will be set up on the boardwalk for everyone to try their hand at betting against a mining camp gambler.
