Blood Drive for Jon Caviani Oct 18th at Elks Lodge
Sonora, CA...Jon Cavaiani (born August 2, 1943) is a retired United States Army soldier and a recipient of the United States
military’s highest decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions in the Vietnam War.
Sergeant Major Jon Cavaiani is fighting for his life. Jon has been diagnosed with MDS (myelodyplastic
syndrome), a life threatening blood disorder. Over the last few months, Jon has received medical consultations,
blood transfusions, and chemotherapy form San Francisco Veterans Hospital—Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Sonora Hospital. Currently, Jon is waiting for admission to Stanford for a bone marrow transplant and other critical treatments.
By participating in this Replacement Blood Drive, you not only provide a vital resource for those in need of blood, you also help Jon and his family by offsetting the medical costs of his blood transfusions. For every person who donates blood at the Sonora Elks Lodge, Delta Blood Bank will donate $10 towards Jon’s transfusion-related medical costs!
