Jackson, CA...Join Amador Master Gardeners for the last class in the series "Growing Great Vegetables" on October 19th from 9am to noon.  In many parts of the county, growing vegetables is a year-round activity.  Make the most of your vegetable garden at many elevations.  Learn about fall clean-up activities in the garden and landscape.  Find out how to select fall color and dig up and divide bulbs and perennials.  Preparation now can make your landscape nearly weed free.

This free class is open to be public and is being held at the County GSA Building, 12200-B Airport Road in Jackson.  For more information contact the Master Gardeners at the UC Cooperative Extension Office from 10am to noon, Tuesday through Thursday, 223-6838, or email mgamador@ucdavis.edu

Angels Camp, CA...There is Annual Luncheon and Fashion Fundraiser being held on Saturday, October 19th. Lunch at 11:30 am fashion show to follow at Camps Restaurant at Greenhorn Creek. Dr. Shetzline will be delivering the keynote. Lots of modeling by our Local Cancer Survivors. Shops from: Turners Wild West, Clothesmine in Historic Downtown Angels, Shirt Tales and D Vor A in Murphys.

12:30 PM Guided Hike, Big Trees State Park - 209-795-3840
Free, however, entrance fee $10 ($12 on holiday weekends) per carload applies. Guided hikes available year round. When the snow covers the ground they become guided snowshoe walks every Saturday at 1pm. Snowshoes are provided free, first come first served. No reservations are allowed. Check in at the Warming Hut no later than 12:30 pm.
03:00 PM - 06:00 PM Second Annual Chamber of Commerce Wines on Main October 19th
San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce will present the 2nd Annual Wines on Main event on Saturday, October 19th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Main Street in San Andreas. The charming and quaint Main Street will be closed to through traffic and lined with local Calaveras County Wineries which will pour samples of their delicious wines.

Entry into the street will cost $20.00 and the participants will receive a commemorative etched wine glass with which they can taste wines and other beverages. In addition to local wineries, Arts & Crafts Vendors will be invited to set up displays and sell high quality arts and craft handmade items. Tickets for the event will go on sale in September. Watch for more information about where to purchase tickets.
04:00 PM The Mother Lode Storytelling Guild's October 19th Meeting
Due to Gold Rush Days, parking will be limited for our October Mother Lode Storytelling Guild meeting. Main Street Angels Camp will be closed at Sam’s Way (Napa Auto Parts) to the HWY 49 / Vallecito Rd. intersection from 10am until 6pm. FREE transportation will be provided from both the Fairgrounds and Bret Harte High School for those attending Gold Rush Days.
