Exotic Ugandan Benefit Dinner
Murphys, CA...A dinner featuring a variety of delicious Ugandan dishes will be held at the Native Sons Hall in Murphys on November 15th from 6-8:30 p.m. African music and drumming will be part of the evening.
Proceeds of the dinner will help the Abandoned Children and Youth Association (ACYA) in Uganda. The ACYA runs an orphanage in Uganda that house s and cares for 30 children who have lost their parents to AIDS. There is a real need for help; the orphanage has been farming on a three and a half acre property, which provides food for the children, but the owner needs to sell the property. We hope this dinner will go a long way to help raise $7000 to purchase the property. Please come and support this worthy cause.
The plight of the ACYA came to the notice of Vallecito resident Helen Yost when she was traveling in Uganda. She met Moses Zimbe, one of the leaders of the orphanage there. Since returning to the USA Helen has been active in supporting the ACYA. ACYA is a Partner In Mission with First Congregational Church Murphys.
Tickets are available at Sustenance Books and Murphys Motorcycle Co. in Murphys and the Aeolian Harp in Angels Camp or by calling Teddie at 209-743-9875. $20 adults, $10 children under 12.
