Do you have a small home vineyard? Master Gardeners at this hands-on class will demonstrate head pruning, spur pruning, and grafting on live grapevines.

Nua Dair Vineyard is hosting the class, located at 13825 Willow Creek Road in Ione. Bring hand by-pass pruners or small loppers to practice the new skills you’ll learn.

February 22, 1014 is our first ever Poker Tournament & Dinner. The Jackson Rancheria generously offered to host the tournament. The Tournament registration starts at 10 am, the tournament starts at 11 am. Dinner will be served at 5:30 pm in the Hotel Ballroom B with those doors open at 4 pm.
10:00 AM 8th ANNUAL JAZZTRAX SNOWSHOE STOMP
8th ANNUAL JAZZTRAX SNOWSHOE STOMP to be held at Bear Valley Cross Country on Saturday, February 22nd. This event is a family friendly run/walk on snowshoes. The fun begins at 10:00 am, with registration opening at 8:30 am. There are 3 events taking place: 1 mile fun run for kids 9 & under, 5k and 10k. Snowshoes can be provided for those who need them, thanks to Hazel Fisher School. Music provided by a great junior high jazz ensemble directed by Patty Jo Struve following the race at the SKY HIGH PIZZA in Bear Valley during an epic awards ceremony. Great food, great music, great fun! Come on out and enjoy a beautiful day at amazing Bear Valley Cross Country. Sponsors for the event include: ATLAS SNOWSHOES, HAMMER NUTRITION, and Rudy Project. Many prizes and door prizes from local businesses will be given away as well!!

Free, however, entrance fee $10 ($12 on holiday weekends) per carload applies. Guided hikes available year round. When the snow covers the ground they become guided snowshoe walks every Saturday at 1pm. Snowshoes are provided free, first come first served. No reservations are allowed. Check in at the Warming Hut no later than 12:30 pm.

Indoor Workshop For Beginning and All Levels of Artists

PAINT AND POUR with artist Pamela Findleton. This is a unique afternoon workshop that gathers beginners and experienced artists alike. Workshop participants will complete a finished canvas artwork to hang on a wall, and enjoy Findleton Estate wines available for purchase by the glass or bottle! A step by step painting demonstration by the artist will guide each student through their own journey to complete a one of a kind piece. Come and explore your creative process and enjoy an afternoon of wine and nibbles. Consider making it a date, couples welcome!

Pamela Findleton is known for her vibrant mixed media paintings. She employs fluid brushstrokes that connect with the viewer in this shared experience. Pamela’s work has been given awards by the Mother Lode National Art Exhibition, the California Watercolor Society, and the Olympian Award by the Pastel Society of the West Coast. And her award-winning wine labels are featured at the family winery, Findleton Estate and Vineyard. As a working artist living in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, Pamela divides her time between her studios there and in Sacramento, CA.

No Materials List – All supplies are provided by the instructor and included in the registration cost. Wine, by the glass or bottle, will be available for purchase during the workshop.

Please join us for an afternoon of extraordinary music on Saturday, February 22 at 2:00pm at
Bret Harte High School Theater in Angels Camp.


Renowned German music magazine, Fono Forum writes "Mandelring Quartet is one of the six best string quartets in the world". They have performed in some of the finest music halls across the globe and on Saturday, February 22 at 2:00 pm they will perform at the Dr. Elliott Smart Performing Arts Center located at Bret Harte High School, 323 Highway 49, in Angels Camp.



The Mandelring Quartet is known to carefully prepare, rehearse, and control their performances as if nothing is left to chance, yet they sound spontaneous and animated. On Saturday afternoon they will perform Mozart, String Quartet K.421, Mendelssohn, String Quartet OP.80 and Beethoven, String Quartet OP. 132.



Bothers Sebastian and Bernard Schmidt, join their sister Nanette Schmidt along with viola master Roland Glassl to complete the string quartet. Collectively they achieve a maximum of homogeneity and organic phrasing without having to hide their own strong characters. Their numerous CD recordings have been repeatedly awarded the German Music Critics' Prize and nominated for the International Classical Music Award confirming their exceptional quality and wide-ranging repertoire. California Artists Management of San Francisco is the exclusive representative of this fine quartet.

The non-profit Calaveras County Arts Council operates Gallery Calaveras at 22 Main Street in San Andreas. Hours are Monday - Thursday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Friday and Saturdays, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The gallery offers free parking both in front and in back and is handicapped accessible. The current gallery art show and sale is "Auld Synge" and runs through March 8, 2014.
