10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Old Timers Museum Walking Tours Are Every Saturday at 10am.
Murphys, CA...Each Saturday morning the Old Timers Museum in Murphys offers a historical walking tour of Murphys. No reservation necessary. Meet at the Museum, 470 Main St, Murphys, across from the Hotel 10 am. Walk is 1-1/12 hours.

A stroll down tree-lined Main Street transports visitors back to the mid-1800s with buildings bearing thick stone walls, iron shutters and pastoral gardens with white picket fences. Once you experience the charm and hospitality of Murphys, the historic “Queen of the Sierra”, you’ll want to come back again and again!

Rich in Gold Rush History, Murphys today is a vibrant, thriving community of over 2,000 residents. Many of the surrounding hillsides are rich with the fine wine grapes grown in our area. Murphys offers wineries, art galleries, live theater, eclectic shops, fine restaurants, charming hotels and B&B’s as well as a multitude of outstanding outdoor recreational opportunities.

Murphys’ colorful past came alive in 1848 when John and Daniel Murphy established a trading post and gold mining operation in the area that is now their namesake. True entrepreneurs with the luck of the Irish, they were a part of the very first immigrant party – the Stephens-Townsend-Murphy families – to successfully bring wagons over the Sierra in 1844, paving the way for westward migration. John and Daniel’s cries of “Gold!” were among the first heard in California. It is reported that the brothers took two million dollars in gold ore from the Murphys Diggins in one year’s time, making them millionaires before the age of 25. The sizzling Gold Rush camp of Murphys also played host to President Grant, Mark Twain and Black Bart. And in some circles, to an even more famous chap – a young, inquisitive lad who literally changed the scientific world, Dr. Albert Michelson.

Our friendly residents invite you to revisit the past while exploring the “new” upscale Murphys. Guided walking tours of the town’s many historic buildings including the home of Albert Michelson, the first American Nobel Prize winner, are conducted every Saturday at 10:00 a.m., starting in front of the Old Timers Museum on Main Street.

06:30 PM The 2019 Ironstone Summer Concert Kicks Off June 22 With A Night of Rock and Romance,
Murphys, CA...One epic night of the best of the 70’s with Don Felder’s Eagles hits like Hotel California, Those Shoes and many more! More incredible music from the Iconic band Little River Bands performing the huge hits of “Lonesome Loser”, “Got You On My Mind”, and “Lady” and the epic hits don’t stop there. 70 & 80’s band Ambrosia brings their hits like “How Much I Feel and Biggest Part of Me”. And the night doesn’t stop there with more classic 70’s music from Firefall with hits like “You Are The Woman”, “Strange Way”, “Just Remember I Love You”, and many more!

Four-time Grammy award winner, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, New York Times best-selling author, amazing guitarist and captivating performer is the best way to describe Don Felder. Renowned as a former lead guitarist of The Eagles, one of the most popular and influential rock groups of our time. The bandʼs record-setting compilation Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) sold over 29 million copies in the U.S. alone and was awarded by the RIAA the top-selling album of the 20th Century. Currently, Don and the Eagles have sold more than 83.5 million albums. A member of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 1998, Felder served as a member of The Eagles for 27 years, putting his mark on numerous Eagles milestones. Felder originated the music and co-wrote The Eaglesʼ biggest hit – the iconic, Grammy-studded smash “Hotel California” – along with fan favorites like “Victim of Love” and “Those Shoes”. He became immediately celebrated for his lyrical, signature guitar work on legendary songs like “Hotel California,” “One of These Nights,” “New Kid In Town,” and numerous more. “Hotel California” was recently voted the Number 1 best 12 string guitar song in the world by Guitar World magazine.

Felder comes to the Ironstone Amphitheatre in support of his new CD “The Road To Forever” which features some of the best musicians and close Felder friends in the business including Crosby, Stills & Nash, Tommy Shaw (from STYX), Randy Jackson (American Idol). Steve Lukather and David Paich (Toto). The latest single “Wash Away The Pain” has reached #4 on the classic rock media charts between Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones and has been critically acclaimed throughout the industry

Little River Band
The Eagles founding member, the late Glenn Frey, knew what he was saying when he dubbed Little River Band “the best singing band in the world.”

Through the ‘70’s and ‘80’s, LRB enjoyed huge chart success with multi-platinum albums and chart-topping hits like:
“Reminiscing,” “Cool Change,” “Lonesome Loser,” “The Night Owls,” “Take It Easy On Me,” “Help Is on Its Way,” “Happy Anniversary,” “We Two,” “Man On Your Mind,” “The Other Guy,” and “It’s A Long Way There.”
With worldwide album, CD sales and digital downloads now top 30 million and LRB has set a record for having had Top 10 hits for 6 consecutive years – In fact, they were the very first band to achieve that remarkable status! According to BMI, “Reminiscing” has garnered rare status with over 5 million air plays on American radio, and“Lady” is close behind with over 4 million air plays.

The Little River Band is hotter than ever selling out shows and making music from coast to coast nationwide continuing their legacy of being “the best singing band in the world.

Firefall
In an age where new bands come and go, Firefall has enjoyed a career that spans more than forty years and shows no sign of slowing down. Firefall’s commercial success includes three Gold albums, two Platinum albums and eleven chart-topping singles. The band’s biggest hit, “You Are the Woman” has been played on commercial radio more than 7,000,000 times and has also appeared in many movies and television shows.

Over the past four decades, Firefall has toured the world and shared stages with other iconic bands such as Fleetwood Mac, The Band, The Beach Boys, Kenny Loggins, Journey, Heart, ELO and Marshall Tucker Band.

Currently touring with three original members (Jock Bartley, David Muse, Mark Andes), longtime drummer Sandy Ficca and talented newcomer Gary Jones, Firefall continues to make great music for a loyal following, adding new fans at each show.

Ambrosia
In its brief recording history, Ambrosia garnered 5 Grammy Nominations, 5 Hit Singles, Heavy FM Airplay, and the admiration and respect of the musical community. All this was in addition to Sold Out concerts around the world.

Today the band is more alive than ever. The band recently rocked the Jimmy Fallon show with accolades from Jimmy himself (”that’s how you do it!”) and has shown it’s musical versatility with the ability to play a prog set of music with Yes and Genesis or glide into their pop hits “How Much I Feel and Biggest Part of Me” with a romantic soul. With three of the four original members intact plus the addition of the very talented and inspiring Ken Stacey on acoustic guitar and amazing lead vocals, Mary Harris on soulful keys and vocals, and the six-string ace Doug Jackson on electric guitar and vocals.

07:00 PM "Moon Over Buffalo" Continues on at Murphys Creek Theatre
Murphys, CA...“The Show Must Go On!” In Murphys Creek Theatre’s 2019 summer production. In Ken Ludwig’s MOON OVER BUFFALO, all character stop at nothing to live up to that infamous phrase. The play follows George and Charlotte Hay, fading stage and film stars of the 1950s. At the moment, they're playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in rep in Buffalo, New York… with only five actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George's dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra, Mr. Hollywood himself, is coming to town to see their matinee, and if he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie Twilight of The Scarlet Pimpernel. Unfortunately for George, Charlotte and their devoted company manager Paul Singer, everything that could go wrong does go wrong. The chaos is aided by a visit from their daughter, Roz, her clueless fiancé and hilarious uncertainty about which play they're actually performing. Adding more fuel to the comedic fire is Charlotte’s deaf, stage manager Mother who despises George with every fiber of her being.

Ken Ludwig is a two-time Olivier Award-winning playwright who has written over 26 plays and musicals, including 6 shows on Broadway and 7 in London's West End. His first Broadway play, Lend Me A Tenor, won two Tony Awards and was called "one of the classic comedies of the 20th century" by The Washington Post. His other awards include the Helen Hayes Award, the 2017 Samuel French Award for Sustained Excellence in the American Theatre, the Edgar Award for Best Mystery of the Year, and the Edwin Forrest Award for Contributions to the American Theater. His book How To Teach Your Children Shakespeare, published by Penguin/Random House, won the Falstaff Award for Best Shakespeare Book of the Year, and his essays are published by the Yale Review. Ken's best known works include Crazy For You (5 years on Broadway, Tony and Olivier Awards for Best Musical), Lend Me A Tenor, Moon Over Buffalo, The Game's Afoot, Baskerville, Sherwood, A Fox on the Fairway, and a stage version of Murder on the Orient Express, written expressly at the request of the Agatha Christie Estate. His work has been performed in over 30 countries in more than 20 languages, and is produced somewhere in the United States and abroad every night of the year.

The show is directed by MCT Artistic Director, Robbie Allen. He last directed MCT’s 2018 production of The Mousetrap, and was last seen onstage this year in The Whipping Man and Barefoot in the Park.

“I absolutely love this play,” says Allen, “It is hilarious from start to finish and the characters are incredibly rich and fun. The play relies heavily on situational and farcical comedy, while still delivering very human and relatable character arcs. The writing is phenomenal and makes my job easy.” He also adds, “The cast we’ve assembled is incredible and such a joy to work with.”

Moon Over Buffalo stars: Sid Marsh as George Hay, Elaine Saculla as Charlotte Hay, Todd Thomas as Paul Singer, Alyson Wren as Roz Hay, Sharon Perras as Ethel, Michael Crich as Richard, Charlie Cites as Eileen and Colten Minehart as Howard.

The play runs JUNE 21st – JULY 14th . Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights at 7pm and Sundays at 2pm. Murphys Creek Theatre is located at
