OHV Enthusiasts Encouraged to Join Stanislaus National Forest at Open House April 4
Sonora, CA...The Stanislaus National Forest is hosting an open house to gather feedback and answer questions from OHV enthusiasts on April 4 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Forest Supervisor’s office, 19777 Greenley Road, Sonora. The forest submitted preliminary applications for the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division 2019/ 2020 grant cycle. The applications to the OHMVR Division include a ground operations grant for maintenance and repair of routes and trails, including OHV facilities, a law enforcement grant to support OHV law enforcement activities across the forest and a forest-wide restoration grant to repair areas impacted by unauthorized OHV activity.

Past grants have provided funding for route and trail maintenance and repairs, including clearing downed trees, on more than 1,693 miles of OHV routes on Stanislaus National Forest, provided law enforcement patrols on an additional 756 miles of native surface roads on the forest, printed the free Motor Vehicle Use Maps and provided for other education, planning, development and restoration activities.

The preliminary grant applications are available to review and comment on the OHMVR website between March 5 and May 6, 2019. To review the grant applications submitted by the Forest, go to http://olga.ohv.parks.ca.gov/egrams_ohmvr/user/home.aspx. Visitors also may provide written comments during the open house.

The public may provide electronic comments to the Stanislaus National Forest by emailing Beth Martinez at bethmartinez@fs.fed.us. Please cc emailed comments to the OHMVR Division at ohvinfo@parks.ca.gov. You may also send written comments, suggestions, or letters of support for the applications to Beth Martinez, Stanislaus National Forest Public Services, 19777 Greenley Road, Sonora, CA 95370
