Join Us to learn the history of California Big Trees Sunday, March 1, 2020 |
Angels Camp, CA...JOIN US IN THE Carriage House at the Museum, 1:30 p.m. refreshments, 2 - 3 p.m. lecture. The Angels Camp Museum Foundation invites you to join us for this very special lecture on Big Trees History by Joan Allday who is the historian and a docent for Big Trees State Park
Joan grew up in southern California and attended the University of California at Long Beach where she met her husband. After retiring from the Thousand Oaks School District she and her husband decided to move to the Sierras because of their love for backpacking and camping. Joan has also had a lifelong passion for California history and credits her grandmother for planting the “seed of historical curiosity in” her.
After moving to Arnold in 2011 Joan became immersed in Calaveras Big Trees State Park as a docent. Two years later, she was a director on the Association’s Board and is currently the Vice-President. Besides chairing events for the park, she is the park’s historian conducting oral interviews and overseeing the Park’s annual Discovery Day, held in July. Discovery Day introduces historical knowledge to park visitors through docent interpretation.
Joan always looks forward to meeting more people with a historical connection to Big Trees State Park. “Their stories are always fascinating!”
See you there!
